Abstrak :
Tesis ini membahas bagaimana konstruksi sosial mengenai konsep ibu ideal terbentuk dalam diri para ibu serta bagaimana peran agen sosialisasi dalam membentuk konstruksi tersebut. Paradigma penelitian ini adalah konstruktivisme dan menggunakan teori Konstruksi Realitas Sosial dari Berger dan Luckman untuk menjelaskan fenomena yang terjadi. Melalui wawancara mendalam dan observasi, peneliti menemukan bahwa terdapat tiga peran dan tanggungjawab ibu yang paling sering diperdebatkan oleh para ibu, yaitu: keterlibatan ibu dalam pengasuhan anak sehari-hari, kesehatan (pemberian ASI dan makanan alami) serta pendidikan anak. Pergeseran peran gender di tengah masyarakat melatarbelakangi konstruksi realitas ibu ideal saat ini. ......This thesis discusses how the concept of ideal mother is being socially constructed within mothers and the socialization agents play role in shaping that construction. The paradigm of this research is constructivism and the theory used to elaborate the phenomenon is the Social Construction of Reality by Berger and Luckman. Through the in-depth interview and observation, researcher encounter the three mothers basic roles and responsibility toward their children that moslty argued about, namely their involvemet in children?s daily care, health and education. The gender roles? shift in the society is the background of the reality construction of ideal mother nowadays.
