This undergraduate thesis examines the family business in Palembang songket craft industry that has successfully sustained to four generations. Unlike Hefner et al’s view, that family business can survive if the previous generation have an obligation to bequeath it to the next generations. Then, Hefner refers to the business of indigenous people of Southeast Asia tend not to survive from generation to generation because of those charactersitics. This undergraduate thesis attempts to explain the sustainability of the family business in Palembang songket industry, with the concepts of reciprocity and axiom of amity. It proves that kinship values has moral order to conquer the amoral logic of business values, in the context of family business."

"This volume features nine in-depth cases of family-owned business from a variety of industries to illuminate the dynamics of governance, succession, and inheritance. Each case illustrates the complexity of issues and, through interactive exercises and questions, offers readers approaches to solutions, which may include less-than-optimal compromises or even selling the business as the only viable option. The examples and insights will prove valuable for students and members of entrepreneurial and family-owned firms, as well as consultants, investors, and other professional advisors. "
