Abstrak :
Pada umumnya, seseorang akan selalu berbicara menggunakan gaya bahasa yang sesuai dengan konteks pembicaraan tersebut. Namun demikian, dalam film berjudul Enchanted, kesesuaian antara gaya bahasa yang digunakan oleh tokoh utama, Giselle dengan situasi pembicaraannya dengan tokoh-tokoh lainnya tidak terjadi secara konsisten. Skripsi ini menganalisis gaya bahasa yang digunakan tokoh Giselle berdasarkan teori basic sentence pattern dan interpretasi latar belakang penggunaan gaya bahasa tersebut berdasarkan teori language and sex. Seluruh pembicaraan tokoh Giselle dengan tokoh-tokoh dalam film Enchanted hampir selalu menggunakan gaya bahasa formal meskipun situasi pembicaraannya formal atau pun tidak formal. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa selain tokoh Giselle menyesuaikan gaya bahasa dengan situasi pembicaraannya, kenyataan bahwa ia adalah seorang perempuan lebih mendominasi gaya bahasa yang digunakannya pada setiap pembicaraannya dengan tokoh-tokoh dalam film tersebut.

Commonly, people use a speech style in consistence with the speech context. However, in a movie titled Enchanted, the main character, Giselle, does not use a speech style which is consistent with the speech context in almost every scene the character talks to other characters. This paper analyzes the speech style of the character Giselle based on basic sentence pattern theory and describes the reason of the particular speech style based on the theory of language and sex. Almost all of Giselle?s dialogues of the movie are in the formal style although the context of the dialogue is either formal or informal. This shows despite fitting her speech style with the context of the speech, Giselle?s preference of using formal speech is based on her status as a woman in every dialogue she has with other characters.
