Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh kolektivisme pada fenomena demam pendidikan di Korea Selatan. Kolektivisme merujuk pada kecenderungan masyarakat untuk mengutamakan kepentingan kelompok daripada individu. Pada masyarakat yang menganut budaya kolektivisme, individu cenderung memiliki konstruksi diri interdependen yang berfokus pada hubungan sosial terutama ingroup. Dalam konteks pendidikan Korea Selatan yang sangat kompetitif, kolektivisme memiliki peran yang signifikan dalam membentuk pola perilaku siswa, tekanan akademik, dan norma sosial terkait pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana budaya kolektivisme diterapkan dalam masyarakat Korea Selatan dan bagaimana perannya dalam unsur-unsur fenomena pendidikan, seperti respons siswa, orang tua, masyarakat, serta sistem pendidikan yang ada. Penulis menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi literatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa budaya kolektivisme memengaruhi sekaligus mendasari sikap dan respons siswa, orang tua, dan masyarakat secara keseluruhan dalam fenomena demam pendidikan. ......This study analyzes the influence of collectivism in the education fever phenomenon in South Korea. Collectivism refers to a society's tendency to prioritize the interests of the group over the individual. In societies that embrace a culture of collectivism, individuals tend to have interdependent self-constructions that focus on social relationships, especially the ingroup. In the highly competitive context of South Korean education, collectivism has a significant role in shaping student behavior patterns, academic pressures, and social norms related to education. This research aims to explain how the culture of collectivism in South Korean society and how it plays a role in elements of educational phenomena, such as the response of students, parents, society, and the existing education system. The author uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach. The results of this study show that collectivist culture influences and underlies the attitudes and responses of students, parents and society as a whole in the phenomenon of education fever.

Penelitian ini membahas bagaimana munculnya fenomena pig mum serta bentuk keterlibatan orang tua untuk mewujudkan aspirasi pendidikan terhadap anak. Penerapan kembali sistem pendidikan berbasis tes di tahun 1990-an memicu maraknya fasilitas pendidikan tambahan (sagyoyuk) di Korea Selatan. Fasilitas tersebut bertujuan untuk membantu para siswa sekolah menengah atas mempersiapkan diri untuk ujian masuk universitas (suneung). Hal ini membuat para ibu di Korea Selatan melibatkan diri untuk mencari informasi mengenai fasilitas pendidikan tambahan untuk anak mereka dan memicu munculnya fenomena pig mum. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana fenomena pig mum muncul di Korea Selatan dan bagaimana fenomena ini mempengaruhi perilaku para orang tua untuk mewujudkan aspirasi pendidikan. Pada penelitian ini, metode yang digunakan berupa metode kualitatif melalui studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa fenomena pig mum muncul sebagai reaksi dari sistem pendidikan berbasis tes yang diwujudkan dalam suneung di Korea Selatan. Bentuk keterlibatan orang tua dalam mewujudkan aspirasi pendidikan ditunjukkan dengan pindah dan mencari fasilitas pendidikan tambahan di daerah Gangnam, serta adanya pembentukkan perkumpulan antara ibu, tutor, dan pemilik hakgwon demi dianggap sebagai ‘ibu yang ideal’. ......This qualitative study examines the rise of pig mum phenomenon and South Korean parents’ involvement in achieving educational aspirations towards their children. The reimplementation of the exam-based education system around the 1990s led to the explosion of private education facilities (sagyoyuk) in South Korea. Those private education facilities aim to help high school students prepare for the university entrance exam (suneung). It leads to the involvement of South Korean mothers in seeking information about private education facilities for their children. Also, it leads to the emergence of the pig mum phenomenon that happens among South Korean mothers. This study aims to acknowledge the occurrence of pig mum phenomenon in South Korea and how it affects parents’ behaviour in achieving educational aspirations. This research shows that the pig mum phenomenon is a reaction to the exam-based education system that is shown in university entrance examination (suneung) in South Korea. Parents also show certain behaviours based on their educational aspiration, such as moving to Gangnam district to achieve better private education facilities for their children and gather a lot of education-related information by forming a community among mothers, tutors, and hakgwon owners.
