Abstrak :
Hubungan manusia dan lingkungan adalah hubungan yang sangat kompleks. Sebagian manusia dapat hidup harmonis dengan alam, tetapi sebagian sangat manipulatif dan eksploitatif. Dalam dunia sastra, mulai banyak novel dalam sastra Indonesia modern yang mengangkat tema alam dan lingkungan. Riset ini menggunakan sumber data novel Nias: Penyelamat Berkalung Matahari oleh Ghyna Amanda Putri yang diterbitkan tahun 2014 dengan menggunakan perspektif ekokritik. Riset ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana teks sastra memosisikan alam dalam kaitannya dengan kehidupan manusia. Sehubungan dengan hal itu representasi Pulau Nias dibahas berdasarkan perspektif dwelling rsquo; yang disarankan oleh Garrad 2004. Hasil yang didapat dalam penelitian ini adalah hubungan manusia yang telah mengetahui peran penting alam, tetapi masih belum banyak yang berkontribusi nyata pada pelestarian alam. Selain itu dwelling rsquo; Nias rentan pada pemosisian idealistik dan perspektif orang luar Nias yang memosisikan Pulau Nias sebagai tempat ideal untuk melarikan diri dari permasalahan yang terjadi di perkotaan. ...... Human relations and the environment are a highly complex relationship. Some humans can live in harmony with nature, but some are very manipulative and exploitative. In the literary works, there have been many novels in modern Indonesia literary work that raise the theme of nature and environment. This research uses the novel Nias Penyelamat Berkalung Matahari by Ghyna Amanda Putri published in 2014 as data source using an ecocritical perspective. This research aims to explain how literary texts position nature in relation to human life. Therefore, the representation of Nias Island is discussed based on the lsquo dwelling rsquo perspective suggested by Garrad 2004. The result of this research is the nature relationship that has an important role to human, but they have not contributed significantly to the conservation of nature. Beside that, dwelling rsquo the Nias island is vulnerable to idealistic from problems that occur in urban areas.

Gurun merupakan sebuah ekosistem yang seringkali diasosiasikan dan dibayangkan sebagai tempat yang tandus dan asing jauh dari manusia dan peradaban. Kendati demikian, novel dari Edward Abbey ini yang berjudul The Monkey Wrench Gang 1975 memutarbalikan anggapan akan gurun tersebut dengan menjadikannya sebagai tempat yang memberikan kenyamanan dan kedamaian bagi manusia. Tulisan ini akan menjelaskan bagaimana novel merepresentasikan gurun sebagai tempat yang intim dan mengapa penting gurun diimajinasikan sebagai tempat domestik. Dengan menggunakan kerangka teoretis tentang ekokritik dari Lawrence buell, konsep ruang dan tempat dari Yi-Fu Tuan dan juga reterritorialization lingkungan dari Donald Dreese maka perubahan pemaknaan gurun dalam novel dapat terlihat sebagai upaya Abbey untuk melestarkan gurun dan lingkungan.

ABSTRACT
Desert is an ecosystem which usually assigned and imagined as arid and alien like place far from human and society. however, this fiction of Edward Abbey 39 s The Monkey Wrench Gang 1975 twists such idea and make the desert into intimate and peaceful place for human. this piece of writing will explain how the novel represents the desert into intimate place and why it is important to be imagined as domestic place. Using theoretical framework of ecocriticism of Lawrence Buell, the concept of space and place from Yi Fu Tuan, and also environmental reterritorialization from Donald Dreese the novel can be understood as an attempt of Abbey to preserve desert and environment.

Abstrak :
The impacts of the Vietnam War are not only massive on human lives but also on nature's sustainability. The relationship between humans and nature is seen to be disrupted by the presence of armed conflict. As an anthropocentric issue, war is often seen from the perspective of humanity. This paper analyzes how the ecocritical perspective reveals the effects of war and the connection between humans and the physical environment more thoroughly. As qualitative research, the primary data was obtained based on the relevant passages in the novel and examined using the concept of Ecophobia which defines the negative relationship between humans and nature caused by a lack of consideration toward nature sustainability. This research showed how ecocritical reading of war narrative reveals the existence of ecocide as a form of landscape destruction that affects humans' lives, trauma as a result of estrangement from nature, and a sense of nostalgia resulting from the image of idyllic space in harsh postwar reality. Based on the findings, it is stated that Bao Ninh's writing on Vietnam War displays the interconnection between humans and nature, which is revealed in certain angles of conflicts.

Penelitian ini akan membahas mengenai ekokritisisme yang ada di dalam anime Gake no Ue no Ponyo karya Hayao Miyazaki dengan menggunakan teori ekokritisisme dari Greg Garrard. Melalui teori tersebut, dapat dilihat bahwa Hayao Miyazaki menggunakan isu-isu lingkungan di dalam karya sastranya sebagai bentuk kritik untuk para manusia yang seringkali melakukan aktifitas yang merugikan mereka yang bukan manusia (Hewan, Alam, dan Roh). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan mengumpulkan data informasi dari jurnal artikel dan buku yang membahas ekokritisisme dan film-film karya Hayao Miyazaki lainnya. Anime Gake no Ue no Ponyo dianalisis menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan cara memaparkan unsur-unsur intrinsik dan adegan-adegan beserta beberapa cuplikan gambar yang menggambarkan isu-isu lingkungan. Dalam anime ini ditemukan bentuk ekokritisisme yang disampaikan oleh Hayao Miyazaki melalui gambaran habitat Ponyo yang memiliki masalah lingkungan berupa kegiatan overfishing, pencemaran air laut, dan perubahan iklim di Jepang, bencana berupa tsunami dan badai, serta penyelesaiannya oleh tokoh Gran Mamare yang merupakan sesosok Dewi Pengasih. ......This study discusses about ecocriticism in Hayao Miyazaki's Gake no Ue no Ponyo anime using the ecocriticism theory of Greg Garrard. From this theory, it can be seen that Hayao Miyazaki uses environmental issues in his literary works as a form of criticism for humans who often do activities which are harmful to non-humans (Animals, Nature, and Spirits). Furthermore, this study used a qualitative method by collecting information data from journal articles and books regards to ecocriticism; besides, other films by Hayao Miyazaki. Gake no Ue no Ponyo anime was analyzed using a descriptive method by describing the intrinsic elements and scenes along with several snippets of images which depict environmental issues. Moreover, in this anime, it is found a form of ecocriticism which is delivered by Hayao Miyazaki through the description of Ponyo's habitat which has environmental problems; such as, overfishing activities, marine pollution, climate change in Japan, and disasters (tsunami and storm). In addition, it can be seen in the anime that these problems are overcome by the character of Gran Mamare who is a figure of the Goddess of Mercy.

Abstrak :
The degrading environment of the planet is something that touches everyone. This book offers an introductory overview of literary and cultural criticism that concerns environmental crisis in some form. Both as a way of reading texts and as a theoretical approach to culture more generally, 'ecocriticism' is a varied and fast-changing set of practices which challenges inherited thinking and practice in the reading of literature and culture. This introduction defines what ecocriticism is, its methods, arguments and concepts, and will enable students to look at texts in a wholly new way.
