"Artikel ini membahas tema cinta pada karya sastra abad-17, khususnya tema cinta terlarang tokoh utama pada drama tragedi klasik Phèdre karya terakhir dari dramaturg Prancis, Jean Racine. Drama Jean Racine ini diambil dari mitologi Yunani dan cerita cinta yang dipaparkan berakhir dengan tragis. Tema cinta terlarang diduga menjadi penyebab terjadinya konflik cinta antartokoh. Analisis yang dilakukan untuk melihat gambaran konflik cinta yang terjadi yakni melalui alur, tokoh, hubungan cinta antartokoh, latar, dan tema dalam drama.

This article discusses about love theme in the literature from the 17th century, in particular about forbidden love's theme of the main character in the classical tragedy drama Phèdre, the last piece of a French dramaturgy, Jean Racine. In this drama, the characters created by Jean Racine were derived from the ancient Greek mythology and the love plot ends tragically. The theme of forbidden love is thought to be the cause of the love conflict between characters. The analysis is carried out to see the illustration of the conflict of love that occur through it's plot, characters, the love affair between characters, setting, and themes of drama."
