Background: Secondary stability greatly influences osseointegration, which ultimately affects the success of implant treatment. Though implant thread design is one important factor influencing implant stability, not many studies have analyzed its impact on secondary stability. Methods: This quasi experimental study involving 44 implants evaluated the biological stability of threaded implants with cylindrical (bone-level; BL) and tapered (bone-level tapered; BLT) designs. Implant stability was evaluated for each implant at 3 time parameters using resonance frequency analysis. A mean implant stability quotient (ISQ) value was calculated for each measurement time. Results: A significant increase in the ISQ value was found at each time parameter consecutively in both implant design groups (P < 0.05). No significant difference was noted in ISQ value between the groups at all 3 time parameters (P = 0.05). There was also no significant difference in the ISQ value at all 3 time parameters between implants with diameters of 4.1 mm and 4.8 mm in the BL and BLT implant groups (P = 0.21). Conclusion: The implant thread designs of BL and BLT implants did not affect the secondary stability. Factors such as implant diameter also did not affect the secondary stability in either implant group.

The first bone cement developed by Charnley in the 1960s using polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) remains the most widely used material for fixation of orthopaedic joint replacement. In the field of dentistry, polycarbocylate and glass ionomer cements first came to prominence as dental cements in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Although biocompatible, the zinc component results in the formation of a fibrous collagen capsule around the zinc polycarboxylate cement in vivo, which compromises the strength of the intermediate region between the bone and cement. Glass ionomer cements were anticipated to have potential in orthopaedic applications. The discovery of a well integrated intermediate layer between bone and many bioactive ceramic phases from the calcium-phosphate systems, such as hydroxyapatite (HA), resulted in the development of new cements incorporating such phases. Investigations into bioglass and apatite/wollastonite glass-ceramics prompted the development of off-the-shelf bone graft substitute materials. Synthetic hydroxyapatite is commercially available and serves primarily as a scaffold in order to facilitate the bone regeneration process. Many investigations have ranged from the development of castable bioactive materials to modified bioactive composites. This article attempts to give a broad overview of the different types of cements.

ABSTRACT
The development of anti-bacterial dental implant material based Ti6Al4V modified with TiO2 nanotube array (TiNTAs) metal doped Ag or Zn, have been studied in this research. Conditions in the mouth minimal photon energy, the need for modification of the dental implant material with TiNTAs metal doped (M = Ag; Zn). TiNTAs combination with the type and composition of metal doped to the method Photo Assisted Deposition (PAD) for Ag and in situ for Zn can serve as electron trapper and produces hydroxyl radicals that have the properties of inhibiting the growth of biofilm. Evidentiary nature of inhibiting the growth of biofilm testing static biofilm test using the model bacterium Streptococcus mutans at 3 and 16 hours of incubation, which previously done first characterization by XRD and SEM-EDX. The result of inhibiting the growth of biofilm properties effective is sampled TiNTAs/ G / Ag / 0.15, with 97.62% disinfection of bacteria
