Abstrak :
Latar Belakang: Adanya pandemi COVID-19 yang penyebaran virus SARS COV-2 dapat melalui klinik dental baik penyebaran kontak langsung maupun tidak langsung. Organisasi dental dunia termasuk juga PDGI menyarankan masyarakat untuk menunda perawatan gigi yang bersifat symptomatic, perawatan dengan menggunakan high-speed handpiece atau instrumen ultrasonik dapat menghasilkan sekresi berupa saliva, darah dan cairan tubuh lainnya. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan edukasi untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan mengenai COVID-19 dan dental emergency dengan menggunakan media video edukasi. Tujuan: Mengetahui efek penggunaan video edukasi dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dental emergency saat menghadapi pandemi corona virus disease 19 (COVID-19). Metode: Penelitian menggunakan desain one group pretest-posttest dengan populasi Mahasiswa S1 Perguruan Tinggi Negeri Jawa Barat berusia 18-22 tahun. Responden penelitian terdiri dari 363 mahasiswa yang dipilih dengan metode purposive sampling. Hasil: Berdasarkan uji Wilcoxon, terdapat perbedaan bermakna secara statistik pada rerata nilai pre-test dan post-test pengetahuan (p < 0,05). Berdasarkan uji Effect Size Cohen’s d, efek video dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan relatif besar. Kesimpulan: Terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan pada mahasiswa. Efek video dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan relatif besar. ......Background: The COVID-19 pandemic spreads the SARS COV-2 virus through clinics both by direct and indirect contact. World dental organizations, including PDGI, advise the public to postpone dental care for cases that are of symptomatic dental cases and treatments using high-speed handpieces or ultrasonic instruments which can produce secretions in the form of saliva, blood and other bodily fluids. Therefore, education is needed to increase knowledge about COVID-19 and dental emergencies by using educational video. Objective: To know the effect of using educational videos in increasing dental emergency knowledge in facing corona virus disease 19 (COVID-19) pandemic. Method: This research using pre-experimental study with one group pretest-posttest design towards the colleges students bachelor program in West Java aged 18–22. Result: Based on Wilcoxon test, there is statistically significant difference between the mean of pre-test score and post-test score in knowledge (p < 0.05). Based on Effect Size Cohen’s d test, the effectivity of video in increasing knowledge of the students is relatively big. Conclusion: There is a relatively big increase in knowledge of students and video’s effect in increasing knowledge.
