...... Anemia and kidney stones is a health problem in Indonesia. Patients who develop kidney stones are at risk for decreased renal function. Meanwhile, further decline in renal function may lead to anemia. This study aimed to explore the relationship between anemia with decreased kidney function in patients with kidney stones. This study used a cross-sectional study in patients undergoing treatment for calculous disease in Cipto Mangunkusumo National Center General Hospital (RSUPNCM) between 2000 and 2013. Sampling was conducted with a total population sampling methods that have data hemoglobin and creatinine. Of the total of 5464 patients with kidney stones, as many as 1428 eligible study. Results showed the prevalence rate of renal function decline in patients seeking treatment for kidney stones in RSCM is 35.43% or as many as 506 patients. In addition, the prevalence of anemia of patients seeking treatment for kidney stones in RSCM by 35.43% or as many as 506 patients. Of test analysis, found an association between the incidence of anemia with decreased renal function with significance p value of 0.003. The conclusion of this study that there is a relationship between menunjuukan anemia with decreased kidney function in patients with kidney stones. Therefore, in patients with decreased renal function, an examination of the hemoglobin levels for detecting anemia is important.;Anemia and kidney stones is a health problem in Indonesia.
Anemia is a condition where the red blood cell count or its ability to carry oxygen is not adequate to fulfill physiological needs. Anemia in children can affected growth and development and cause fatigue, paleness. One of the factors that can cause anemia in developing countries is soil-transmitted helminths infection. This research aimed to analyze the correlation between soil-transmitted helminths infection and the prevalence of anemia in under-five children in Nangapanda Subdistrict, Ende district, East Nusa Tenggara. This research used cross-sectional design by investigating soil-transmitted helminths infection status through detection of helminth eggs in stool examination and its correlation with status of anemia based on hemoglobin measured from finger-prick blood. The link between anemia and confounding factors such as age, gender, and nutriotinal status was also analyzed. This research was conducted from July 2015 to October 2015 at Parasitology Departement of Faculty of Medicine of University of Indonesia. The data are analyzed using SPSS 20.0 software for Windows with Chi-Square and Fisher Test for univariate analysis and Logistic Regression for multivariate analysis. The results showed that the prevalence of soil-transmitted helminths infection in the 100 under-five children in Nangapanda Subdistrict, Ende district, East Nusa Tenggara was 59%, with majority of children (23%) co infected with Ascaris lumbricoides and Trichuris trichiura. The prevalence of anemia in the under-five children in Nangapanda Subdistrict, Ende district, East Nusa Tenggara 63%. There was no significant correlation between soil-transmitted helminths infection and anemia status in under-five children in Nangapanda Subdistrict, Ende District, East Nusa Tenggara. However, among other confounding factors analyzed, children under 2 years old were significantly associated with the prevalence of anemia in this population.
