Deficiency of concrete quality in building is common to find due to numerous factors affecting concrete quality. The widespread use of concrete materials as building structures necessitates a re-evaluation of the impact of deficiency of concrete quality on reinforcement requirements and structural seismic performance of buildings. The deficiency of concrete quality is regulated by SNI 2847:2019, which states that a maximum permissible deficiency found is at 25% of design strength. This research was conducted on an eight-story single-span building with variations in deficiency of concrete quality in columns at 7,5%, 15%, and 25% from design strength. The research object was designed using SNI 2847:2019 using special moment-resisting frame system then evaluated using analysis based on ASCE 41-17, incorporating design and maximum earthquake. From these variations, it was found that a 25% deficiency in column concrete quality from design strength resulted in an increase in column reinforcement requirements by up to twice the design reinforcement, and some columns experienced a reduction in seismic performance."

"In this book, a critical analysis is made on service life models related to reinforcement corrosion. The contributors are on the frontier of knowledge in the field of durability of reinforced concrete. Topics covered in the book include: causes and mechanisms of deterioration, transport mechanisms in concrete, numerical modeling of concrete behavior, durability modeling and prediction, reliability approach to structural design for durability, structural behavior following degradation of concrete structures, deterioration and repair of concrete structures, and corrosion measurement techniques.;In this book, a critical analysis is made on service life models related to reinforcement corrosion. "Contents: Since AAR was first identified in 1940, it has been a subject dominated by studies of the mineralogy of AAR-susceptible aggregates, the chemistry of the AAR and related reactions and laboratory tests used to diagnose AAR and predict potential future swelling. Civil and structural engineers have found the literature bewildering and difficult to apply to their immediate requirements of assessing the present and future effects of AAR on the strength, safety and serviceability of plain and reinforced concrete structures. There is a need to discuss methods that can be used for in situ non-destructive testing to assess the effects of AAR, and in-service measurements and load-testing to assess the present and future safety of reinforced concrete structures. Methods of repair and rehabilitation and their long-term success also need to be discussed, as do methods of halting or slowing the progress of AAR. At the same time, the fundamentals of AAR need to be explained in terms intelligible to the civil and structural engineer who is primarily trained in structural mechanics and design, but also needs to have a basic understanding of the AAR process and its effects on concrete."

"This volume contains the proceedings of the 8th International PhD Student Workshop on Service Life and Durability of Reinforced Concrete Structures that was held in Marne-la-Vallee, France, on September the 26th and 27th 2016.
Topics discussed in the book are related to durability performance of reinforced concrete, service life modelling, prevention, protection and repair.
Reinforced concrete structures may prove to be very durable, however, their gradual degradation over time impairing both serviceability and structural safety is still a matter of great practical concern in view of the large economic consequences for assessment, maintenance and repair. Corrosion of steel reinforcement is considered to be the most detrimental process responsible for structural deterioration.
Many studies are in progress to develop a comprehensive engineering approach for assessment of the initiation and the propagation period of corrosion in both uncracked and cracked concrete. Modelling of chloride penetration and carbonation has attracted a great deal of attention in recent years, however, there is still much debate on several essential aspects such as the chloride threshold level. ASR, and acid, sulphate and frost attack and other mechanisms remain important areas of study. In addition, the interaction between different degradation mechanisms requires further understanding.
The worskhop was organised under the auspices of RILEM EAC (Educational Activities Committee), with the aim to bring together young researchers in the field of durability of concrete."
