"ABSTRAKDalam thesis ini dibuat model penyimpanan stabil berbasis pesan yang dapat menyediakan keberadaan, konsistensi, dan kemutakhiran versi arsip pada sistem terdistribusi meskipun terjadi kerusakan pada media penyimpan (disk) secara fisik maupun terjadi kegagalan prosesor (crash).Model yang dibuat menggunakan dua buah disk yang berbeda, yang masing-masing terhubung dengan. mesin yang berbeda pula. Digunakannya dua buah disk tersebut untuk menjaga keberadaan arsip bila terjadi kerusakan disk. Sedang untuk menjaga keberadaan dan konsistensi arsip terhadap kegagalan prosesor, model yang dibuat menggunakan prinsip update atomik dan kesepakatan antara kedua pihak, yaitu pihak klien dan pihak pelayan. Dengan cara memberikan status kepada setiap arsip yang diakses, kemutakhiran versi arsip dapat dijamin. Status arsip bernilai 1 bila pada proses penulisan tidak terjadi kegagalan, dan sebaliknya akan bernilai 0 bila terjadi kegagalan.Model yang dibuat telah diimplementasikan pada mesin Sun maupun HP (Hewlett-Packard) yang terhubung dalam sistem terdistribusi.
