Abstrak :
Berbagai orang dengan latar belakang pendidikan yang berbeda pada akhirnya harus menghadapi beragam jenis aktivitas komunikasi dalam pekerjaannya. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi perilaku komunikasi seseorang adalah tingkat kecemasan komunikasi. Kecemasan komunikasi pada pekerja menarik untuk diteliti karena tidak saja hanya berdampak pada karir seseorang tetapi juga pada kinerja organisasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan tingkat kecemasan komunikasi pada pekerja lulusan Komunikasi dan non-Komunikasi di Indonesia. Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil penelitian terdahulu yang menunjukkan adanya faktor biologis dan non-biologis yang membedakan tingkat CA pekerja, diantaranya frekuensi presentasi, lama bekerja, usia, dan pengalaman memimpin tim. Penelitian kuantitatif ini menggunakan metode survey dengan instrumen kuesioner Personal Report Communication Apprehension (PRCA-24). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pekerja yang berlatar belakang pendidikan jurusan Komunikasi memiliki tingkat CA yang lebih rendah daripada pekerja yang berlatar belakang pendidikan jurusan non-Komunikasi. Namun, selain faktor latar belakang pendidikan, terdapat faktor lainnya juga yang dapat membedakan tingkat CA antara para pekerja, yaitu frekuensi presentasi, lama bekerja, usia, dan pengalaman memimpin tim. ......All people with a different educational background will eventually face various types of communication activities in their work. One of the factors that influence individual communication behavior is the level of communication apprehension. Communication apprehension in worker is interesting to study because it is not only affects individual careers but also on organizational performance. This study aims to determine the differences in the level of communication apprehension among Communication and non-Communication graduate workers in Indonesia. This research is motivated by the results of previous studies which show the existence of biological and non-biological factors that influence the CA level of workers, including the frequency of presentation, length of work, age, and experience leading the team. This quantitative research uses a survey method with the Personal Report Communication Apprehension (PRCA-24) questionnaire instrument. The results showed that workers with educational background majoring in Communication had a lower level of CA than workers with educational background majoring in non-Communication. However, apart from educational background factors, there are other factors that can make a difference of CA level between workers, as has been proven in previous studies, namely the frequency of presentation, length of work, age, and experience of leading the team.
