Abstrak :
Monumen Nasional adalah sebuah monumen yang merepresentasikan perjuangan rakyat Indonesia melawan penjajahan Belanda, Monumen ini dibangun di masa presiden soekarno yang mana pada saat itu ditujukan untuk menyatukan bangsa Indonesia, agar rakyat Indonesia mempunyai satu kebanggaan yang sama. Monumen ini terletak di Kota Jakarta yang menjadi ibu kota Indonesia, secara tidak langsung Monas menjadi identitas Indonesia dan Kota Jakarta dengan statusnya sebagai bangunan cagar budaya Nasional. Penggunaan Monas saat ini sesuai dengan tujuan awal yaitu, menceritakan tentang bangsa Indonesia itu tersebut. Namun belakangan ini muncul sebuah gagasan bahwa area Monas dan jalan Medan Merdeka akan digunakan sebagai area sirkuit untuk ajang balapan Formula E yang mana peserta akan mamacu mobil elektrik nya dengan kecepatan tinggi dan memberikan kampanye mobil listrik ramah lingkungan bagi masyarakat Indonesia. Hal ini menimbulkan sebuah pertanyaan apakah Monas layak untuk menyelenggarakan event yang sangat berbeda dari tujuan awal fungsi monas. Tujuan tulisan akademik ini adalah untuk mengamati dan membahas mengenai isu apropriasi Monas yang akan digunakan untuk event balapan mobil tersebut. Hasil dari bahasan mengenai isu appropriasi ini akan menjadi sebuah saran, seberapa layak monas digunakan untuk ajang balapan mobil tersebut. ......The National Monument is a monument that represents the struggle of the Indonesian people against Dutch colonialism. This monument was built during the Soekarno era, which at that time was intended to unite the Indonesian people. This monument is located in the city of Jakarta, which is the capital of Indonesia. Indirectly Monas becomes the identity of Indonesia and the City of Jakarta with its status as a National cultural heritage building. The current use of Monas is in accordance with the original purpose, namely, to talk about the Indonesian nation. However, recently an idea emerged that the Monas area and the Medan Merdeka road would be used as a circuit area for the Formula E race where participants would drive their electric cars at high speed and provide an environmentally friendly electric car campaign for the Indonesian people. This raises a question whether Monas is appropriate to hold events that are very different from the original purpose of the Monas function. This academic paper aims to observe and discuss the issue of Monas appropriation to be used for the car race event. The results of this discussion on the issue of appropriation will be a suggestion, how appropriate Monas is used for the car racing event.
