"ABSTRAKThe folksong of Papua is one of oral literature which contains many noble values in it. Therefore, it is necessary to preserve the folksong of the Papua, among others, by conducting a study of language functions. The purpose is to find out the various functions in the lyrics of Papuan folk songs as a form of communication in various languages in Papua. This research was conducted with a sociolinguistic approach that considered to how language is used so that it performs its functions maximally. The results of the study indicate that the language in the lyrics of the folksong of Papua has several functions, among other things, regulatory functions, interaction functions, personal functions, informative functions, and poetic functions."

"ABSTRAKThe purpose of this study was to find out the Banjar papadah along with cultural values they have. Banjar papadah can be used to revitalize the noble values of the nation and the relevance of the cultural noble values in Banjar papadah with social life at this time. The research problems are: 1) Banjar papadah along with the cultural values they have where Banjar papadah can be used to revitalize the noble values of the nation; 2) Are the cultural noble values in Banjar papadah still relevant to the life of society today. The study used a qualitative descriptive methodology with library research technique. Based on the analysis, it can be obtained that Banjar papadah-papadah related to human problems as individual, social in the nation and state. They have the cultural noble values that can be used as a reference and guidelines, and those papadah-papadah are still very relevant to the social life and the nation at this time."

"ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat apresiasi puisi siswa SD kelas V di Kabupaten Merauke. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Subjek penelitian siswa SD kelas V se-Kabupaten Merauke tahun ajaran 2017/2018 yang terdiri atas 72 siswa dari 12 sekolah. Teknik pengambilan sampel sekolah menggunakan cluster sampling, sedangkan teknik pengambilan sampel kelas menggunakan sampel random (acak). Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes tingkat apresiasi puisi. Pengukuran dilakukan melalui pemeringkatan yang dilakukan dengan penghitungan persentase untuk skala empat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat apresiasi puisi para siswa SD kelas V di Kabupaten Merauke masih rendah dengan nilai rata-rata 49. Diketahui pula, faktor-faktor seperti cara mengapresiasi puisi, status sekolah, serta lokasi sekolah turut memengaruhi tingkat apresiasi puisi para siswa."

"ABSTRAKThe purpose of this study is to describe the intrinsic elements of Alisya novel by Muhammad Makhdloril. The problem that will be examined and studied is how to describe the intrinsic elements that are the base of a literary work, among other things, the existence of themes, and mandates, figures and characterizations, plots, and settings that become the structure of Muhammad Makhdori's Alisya novel? The method used is descriptive method. The advantages of research is that it can reveal the structure of a novel that can be used as a material for studying learning to deal with life problems. The source used in this research is Alisya novel by Muhammad Makhdlori. The results obtained in this study indicate that the Alisya novel by Muhammad Makhdori has the theme of poverty can make people go berserk and invites immorality. Life needs to struggle and work hard."

"ABSTRAKLanguage as a means of communication in community has an important role in life, both urban and local communities. Theories applied in this paper include intercultural communication (Liliweri, 2016), language studies (Yule, 2014), sociolinguistics (Sumarsono, 2013), and other related theories. This paper aims to describe urban community communication strategies in adapting in Pontianak City. The method applied is descriptive method with qualitative approach. The result of the analysis shows that communication strategy used by urban community to adapt in Pontianak city through culture, language, and society. The form of adaptation of urban society through culture in Pontianak City by showing the characteristic of its culture so as giving space and its own value for society in that city. In practice, these culturalactivities use ethnic language (Dayak language, Chinese language, and Malay dialectof Pontianak) and Indonesian language."

"ABSTRAKDi antara beragam fabel yang tersebar di Indonesia, salah satunya ialah fabel Dayak Bakumpai. Fabel Dayak Bakumpai secara tidak langsung mempresentasikan nilai-nilai budaya luhur masyarakat Dayak Bakumpai. Pemahaman tentang kehidupan sosial, kearifan, dan kebijakan masyarakat Dayak Bakumpai dapat dipelajari melalui tokoh dan karakter binatang-binatang dalam fabel Dayak Bakumpai. Fabel Dayak Bakumpai ini sejogjanya harus dipertahankan keberadaannya, agar tetap lestari. Tulisan ini secara ringkas mendeskripsikan representasi kehidupan sosial masyarakat Bakumpai dalam fabel Dayak Bakumpai. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik catat, wawancara, dan studi pustaka. Hasil analisis memberikan gambaran singkat mengenai representasi kehidupan sosial masyarakat Dayak Bakumpai dalam fabel Dayak Bakumpai."
