Abstrak :
Baja S45C adalah salah satu baja karbon rendah yang banyak digunakan di bidang manufaktur dan banyak ditemukan pada poros motor dan suku cadang otomotif. Ini adalah kelas yang lazim di Asia karena harganya yang lebih murah. Sementara baja dapat diproses untuk memasukkan berbagai macam struktur mikro dan karakteristik. Struktur mikro bainit merupakan struktur mikro yang menunjukkan kombinasi kekuatan dan keuletan. Pada penelitian ini baja S45C dipanaskan sampai temperatur austenisasi 850 oC, 900 oC, dan 950 oC. menggunakan muffle furnace kemudian sampel akan ditahan pada suhu 300 oC dalam penangas garam selama 1 jam, 3 jam, dan 6 jam. Kemudian sampel tersebut akan dilakukan uji kekerasan dan uji metalografi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa struktur mikro bainitik pada baja S45C terbentuk pada temperatur austenisasi dan holding yang berbeda sedangkan nilai kekerasannya tidak memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan ......Steel has an essential role in the industry. Indonesia is classified as a developing country that needs material such as steel for construction to build and provide some facilities for rural and big areas. S45C steel is one of low carbon steel that is widely used in manufacturing and is commonly found in the motor shaft and automotive parts. It is a prevalent grade in Asia due to its cheaper price. While steel can be processed to include a wide variety of microstructures and characteristics. Bainite microstructure is the microstructure that shows the combination of strength and ductility. In this Research the S45C steel is heated to austenization temperature of 850 oC, 900 oC, and 950 oC. using a muffle furnace and then the sample will be held at 300 oC in a salt bath for 1 hour, 3 hours, and 6 hours. Then the sample will be tested for hardness and metallography test. The result shows the bainitic microstructure in S45C steel has formed in different austenization and holding temperatures while there is no significant variance in hardness value.
