"In this paper, I describe a recently developed experimental setup for monitoring temperature, which can be accessed via Ethernet network. The experiment consists of three primary elements communicating with each other: i) an embedded system acting as a server. It consists of an embedded Ethernet controller and a 1-Wire sensor for temperature measurement which is called TINI and ii) a second embedded 1-Wire temperature measurement system which is build on the ATMEL AVR micro-controller and iii) a PC based client computer, for monitoring the overall process. The AVR embedded system whose programs were written in the C programming language, sends data to the TINI using serial communications, while the TINI, which executes Java programs communicates to PC using the TCP/IP protocol. The client computer plots the data sent to it through TINI and provides a visual display of a sequence of temperature measurement data, which were detected by sensors with 1-Wire technology on either of the two embedded systems."

"Bisnis militer TNI-AL merupakan bagian integral dari institusi bisnis TNI menjadi salah satu fokus terpenting bersama-sama dengan isu reformasi TNI. UU TNI No. 34 Tahun 2004 dalam salah satu pasal menyatakan TNI harus melepaskan bisnisnya pada tahun 2009. TNI-AL adalah institusi yang mengawaki alat utama yang berbasis telmologi tinggi, biaya mahal, dan besar serta diawaki oleh prajurit yang membutuhkan kesejahteraan.
Penghapusan bisnis militer menimbulkan pertanyaan, bagaimana kelanjutan keberadaan TNI-AL di masa depan, sedangkan selama ini anggaran militer kurang. Oleh karena itu agar penelitian lebih terarah penelitian memfokuskan pada studi kasus bisnis militer TNI-AL Permasalahan utama dalam penelitian ini adalah faktor-faktor apa saja yang menyebabkan TNI-AL terjun dalam bisnis dan kebijakan apa saja yang telah dilakukan TNI-AL dalam rangka pembenahan bisnisnya.
Agar diperoleh interpretasi dan kesimpulan menganalisa studi tentang bisnis militer, digunakan tiga kerangka teori yang dijadikan landasan studi, yaitu, teori tentang Bisnis Militer, teori Transisi Demokrasi, dan teori Tentara Revolusioner.
Untuk menjawab permasalahan di atas penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif sedangkan teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara : (1) studi kepustakaan, dan (2) studi lapangan dengan melakukan wawancara mendalam (indepth-interview) dengan informan yang dipilih secara purposive.
Hasil penelitian yang didapatkan penulis sebagai berikut : Perbedaan kebijakan pimpinan lama dan baru terhadap bisnis militer; Pihak TNI-AL berpandangan bisnis militer dapat dihapuskan, namun negara harus dapat memberikan jaminan kebutuhan TNI. Di lain pihak pandangan para pengamat/politisi menyatakan bisnis militer harus dihapuskan karena tidak sesuai dengan alam demokrasi, Penyelesaian masalah bisnis militer TNI-AL kurang berjalan dengan semestinya, UU Yayasan No. 16 Tahun 2001 merupakan dasar pijakan bisnis TNI yang tidak mencerminkan kegiatan bisnis pada umumnya justru lebih menguntungkan pada mitra dan segelintir pribadi petinggi militer ketimbang kesejahteraan prajurit secara umum.
Kesimpulannya bahwa Yayasan Bhumyamca TNI-AL memang diperuntukkan kesejahteraan prajurit semata, walaupun tersamar masih ada hidden agenda dibalik pendiriannya, yaitu untuk keperluan para petinggi TNI-AL.

The business runs by Navy-TNI is an integral part of the TNI business institution which became one of the most important focus within TNI reformation issues. In one of the article of UU TNI No. 34/ 2004 states that TNI has to release its business by the year of 2009. Navy is an institution which basically uses high and expensive technology tools and appliances and operated by soldiers who need the maintenance of welfare. The closing of military business then raised a question, how to maintain the existence of the Navy in the future when there is a very limited budget to cover the expenses. Hence, this research will focus on the case study of Navy military business.
The main problem posed in this research is what factors that caused the Navy to be involved in business and what policy taken by the Navy to reform its business. Three framework theories are used as a study basis, in order to get an interpretation and result on the study of military business, the theory on Military Business, Democracy Transition and Revolutionary Soldier. The results of this research are as follow: there is a different of policy between the old and the new leaders on military business. The Navy military business can be abolished; however the state has to be able to guarantee the fulfillment of the military needs. On the other hand, the military observer/ politician state that the military business has to be abolished because it is not in accordance to democracy. The completion of the Navy military business problem did not proceed as it supposed to. UU Yayasan No. 1612001 as the basis for TNT's business does not represent the general business activities instead gives more advantages to the partners and several military leaders personal rather than the general welfare of soldiers.
In order to answer it, this research used a qualitative method with data collection technique done by: (1) literature study and (2) field research by in-depth interviews with informants selected by purposive sampling.
In conclusion, Yayasan Bhumyamca owned by the Navy is indeed aimed for the welfare of soldiers although there is still a hidden agenda of the Navy leaders' advantages behind the establishment of the cooperation.

"Kebijakan subsidi input pertanian yang terdiri dari subsidi pupuk dan benih sudah berlangsung lama di Indonesia. Tujuaan kebijakan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan produktivitas pertanian di Indonesia. Meskipun akhir-akhir ini pemerintah banyak mengurangi subsidi, akan tetapi pemberian subsidi input justru terus dipertahankan dan cenderung meningkat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah kebijakan subsidi input Pertanian bisa mempengaruhi produktivitas pertanian dan adakah alternatif kebijakan lainnya.
Untuk menjawab pertanyaan tersebut penelitian ini menggunakan data panel untuk seluruh provinsi yang ada di Indonesia selama 5 tahun 2012-2016. Menggunakan model fixed effect penelitian ini ingin menguji apakah subsidi input pertanian bisa mempengaruhi produktivitas pertanian dengan menggunakan variabel kontrol lainnya yang terdiri dari teknologi, iklim, jumlah petani, dan irigasi. Hasilnya, subsidi input Pertanian ternyata terbukti signifikan secara statistik mampu meningkatkan produktivitas pertanian akan tetapi ini hanya berlaku untuk subsidi pupuk, sedangkan subsidi benih tidak terbukti signifikan.
Selain menggunakan subsidi pupuk ada alternatif kebijakan lainnya untuk mendorong produktivitas. Mekanisasi pertanian juga terbukti secara signifikan mampu meningkatkan produktivitas pertanian. Sedangkan peningkatan infrastruktur jaringan irigasi tidak terbukti signifikan secara statistik mampu meningkatkan produktivitas pertanian hal ini dikarenakan tidak terintegrasinya dengan baik antara jaringan irigasi tersier, sekunder, dan primer.

The policy of agricultural input subsidy consisting of fertilizer and seed subsidies has been going on for a long time in Indonesia. The purpose of this policy is to improve agricultural productivity in Indonesia. Although the government has recently reduced subsidies, the subsidy of inputs continues to be maintained and tends to increase. This study aims to determine whether agricultural input subsidy policy can affect agricultural productivity and other policy alternatives.
To answer this question, this research uses panel data for all provinces in Indonesia for 5 years 2012 2016. Using the fixed effect model, the study wanted to examine whether agricultural input subsidies could affect agricultural productivity by using other control variables consisting of technology, climate, number of farmers, and irrigation. As a result, subsidized agricultural inputs proved statistically significant to increase agricultural productivity but this only applies to fertilizer subsidies, while seed subsidies are not proven to be significant.
In addition to using fertilizer subsidies, there are other policy alternatives to boost productivity. Mechanization of agriculture is also proven to significantly increase agricultural productivity. While improving the infrastructure of irrigation networks is not proven statistically significant to increase agricultural productivity. This is because it does not integrate well between tertiary, secondary, and primary irrigation networks.
