"Memelihara reptil sudah menjadi hobi bagi komunitas pecinta reptil. Reptil yang dipelihara diperoleh dari proses jual-beli. Salah satu wadah untuk proses ini terjadi di Facebook, platform yang melarang adanya aktivitas tersebut. Oleh karena itu, aktivitas jual-beli dilakukan secara rahasia dan memunculkan adanya argot, yakni variasi bahasa yang digunakan pada profesi-profesi tertentu dan bersifat rahasia. Penelitian ini membahas bentuk dan fungsi kemunculan argot pada grup FJB (forum jual-beli) Reptil. Data diperoleh dengan mengamati aktivitas grup dan mencatat secara objektif setiap unggahan sebanyak 100 pada setiap grup. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan cara kualitatif. Hasilnya, terdapat lima jenis bentuk argot yang muncul, yaitu 1) kata; 2) frasa; 3) abreviasi; 4) kode jenis kelamin; dan 5) kode nominal harga. Fungsi kemunculan argot adalah 1) untuk merahasiakan adanya penawaran jual-beli reptil; 2) untuk menjaga eksistensi grup agar tidak dihapus oleh pihak Facebook; dan 3) untuk menjaga pelaku jual-beli dari jeratan hukum karena menjual hewan yang dilindungi.

Having reptiles as a pet is a common hobby for people in reptile lovers community. They get the reptiles by selling dan purchasing them. One of the place to sell and purchase reptiles are found in Facebook, a platform that banned those activity. Therefore, sell and purchase activities are held secretly and elicits argot, language variation that’s confidential and only appears in some profession. This research describes form and function of argot on reptile’s community group on Facebook which doing sell and purchase activity. Data is obtained by observing group’s activity and collect objectively 100 data in every posts that contains argot in two chosen groups. The research method is qualitative. As the result, there are five form of argot that appears; 1) word, 2) phrase, 3) abbreviation, 4) code of reptile’s sex, and 5) code of nominal price. There are three function of argot for this group; 1) to conceal the sell-purchase activity, 2) to keep the Facebook group existed and 3) to keep the group’s members safe because of selling protected animals."
