"Diperkirakan pada tahun 2050 jumlah penduduk lansia yang berusia diatas 60 tahun akan mencapai sekitar 2 milyar jiwa Masalah yang terjadi jumlah lansia semakin meningkat risiko masalah kesehatan salah satunya hipertensi juga mengalami peningkatan Desain penelitian deskriptif korelatif dengan metode cross sectional menggunakan tehnik simple random sampling terhadap 91 orang lansia dari periode bulan Mei Juni 2013 Hasil uji statistik Chi Square menunjukkan tidak ada hubungan antara tingkat pengetahuan lansia terhadap gizi seimbang dengan risiko hipertensi p 0 068 a 0 05 Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa lansia yang berpengetahuan rendah mempunyai peluang 2 493 kali untuk risiko tinggi hipertensi dibanding lansia yang tingkat pengetahuannya tinggi Modifikasi gaya hidup sangat baik diterapkan bagi lansia yang berisiko hipertensi.
