Abstrak :
Penelitian ini berangkat dari marginalisasi ulun Lampung. Sebagai etnik lokal, mereka kurang dihargai oleh pendatang. Di ranah eksternal, ulun Lampung mendapat stigma, karena berbagai tindakannya sering di luar konteks Piil Pesenggiri. Pada dasarnya, Piil Pesenggiri berhubungan dengan makna positif seperti keramahtamahan terhadap tamu, menjunjung martabat dan harga diri, namun sebaliknya yang tampil adalah kekerasan, malas, arogan dan tindakan lainnya yang dalam pandangan pendatang diasosiasikan dengan Piil Pesenggiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan menjelaskan strategi ulun Lampung dalam merevitalisasi nilai Piil Pesenggiri sebagai modal budaya dalam mempertahankan identitasnya dan kesetaraan dengan pendatang. Saat ini, mereka merevitalisasi kembali Piil Pesenggiri menjadi modal dan strategi untuk keluar dari dominasi pendatang dan mengubah stigma yang dilekatkan kepada mereka. Ulun Lampung menguatkan kesadaran kolektif untuk sejajar dengan pendatang melalui revitalisasi dan reartikulasi Piil Pesenggiri sebagai representasi identitas. Penelitian ini juga menemukan, bahwa reproduksi Piil Pesenggiri adalah bentuk resistensi terhadap ketidaksetaraan dengan pendatang, juga upaya ulun Lampung untuk diakui dan dihargai sebagai etnis lokal. Salah satu contoh adalah dengan menggelar begawi adok, yaitu ritual pemberian gelar kehormatan kepada orang luar (pendatang) sebagai tanda hubungan persaudaraan atau sebagai pertukaran.
This study begins from the marginalization of ulun Lampung. As a local ethnic group, they areunder-appreciated by outsiders or migrants coming to Lampung. In the external domain, ulun Lampung are stigmatized, because their actions are of ten not in line with Piil Pesenggiri context. Basically, Piil Pesenggiri is associated with positive characteristics such as such hospitality towards guests, keeping the dignity and self-esteem, but ulun Lampung appear to display violence, laziness, arrogance and other attitudes which are viewed by migrants to be associated with Piil Pesenggiri. This study aims to explain the strategy to revitalize PiilPesenggiri values of ulun Lampung as cultural capital in maintaining their identity and equality with the migrants. Currently, they are reviving Piil Pesenggiriinto capital and an exit strategy against the domination of the migrant sand are changing the stigma which has been attached to them. Ulun Lampung streng then their collective consciousness to stand at an equal position as the migrants through revitalization and re-articulation of Piil Pesenggirias the representations of their identity. The study also found that reproduction of Piil Pesenggiriis a form of resistance against inequality with the migrants and the effort of ulun Lampung to be recognized and appreciated as a local ethnic group. One example is they hold begawi adok, aritual of awarding an honorary degreeto outsiders (immigrants) as a sign of brotherhood or as an exchange.

This research is based on the mindset that any of heterogeneous in a society, they still could be identified based on the values or symbols that referred to them as an ethnic groups. The problem in this research comes from seeing the issues of Lampung ethnic as an experienced local ethnic domination that increasingly being desperate in their own cultural environment. Ambiguity and vagueness of identity as a local ethnic also reinforced by the attitude of immigrants towards them that affect the relationship between them and if it still left unchecked can potentially lead to conflict. This ethnography research aims to reveal how Lampung ethnic establish their existence of identity through cultural values of Piil Pesenggiri, which upholds the dignity contextually as Lampung identity which carried out in their actions as a strategy of contestation in the immigrant communities. The emergence of a awareness of their identity, reviving Piil Pesenggiri uphold the values of honour in local wisdom become a strategy and a capital that being used when they are dialing with immigrants. In their actualization, the reproduction of Piil Pesenggri still being based on its own basic values such as Pesenggiri, nemui nyimah, nengah nyappor, juluk adok, dan sakai sambayan. Contextually, Piil Pesenggiri become a strategy to manifested their existence as Lampung ethnic and it also used to change the stereotype that immigrants pinned to them with a new value such as (a) changing the work ethic that has been known so low that they are often associated with lazy, less ductile, weak competitiveness, and human resources are still limited; (b) are not stuck with the romance of the past as a landlord; (c) re-interpretation of the titles of nobility (juluk buadek) which has been become the pride and purpose to be achieved in the internal structure so that could be received in the external structure; (d) Piil Pesenggiri become an ethnic identity and politics identity. Piil Pesenggiri is a way of life how ethnic Lampung have to act and behave. For them, Piil Pesenggiri is an identity or reflects the identity so that their existence is recognized and valued in relation to immigrants. In order to confirm their identity as Lampung ethnics, then the actions and strategies they are doing is building a network through the structure of society, also using the idiom of kinship as a strategy to deal with the migrants so that their existence as an ethnic Lampung still got appreciation in accordance with the values of honour that contained in Piil Pesenggiri.
