Hal itu terbukti dengan posisi Prancis sebagai salah satu destinasi favorit wisatawan yang jumlah setiap tahunnya terus meningkat. Selain itu agar dapat tetap berjalan, industri pariwisata Prancis bergantung pada sektor-sektor penunjang lain. Saat krisis ekonomi menyerang negara-negara di dunia pada 2008, keadaan ekonomi internasional menjadi tidak stabil dan berpengaruh pada performa banyak sektor, salah satunya sektor industri pariwisata di Prancis. Berbagai dampak yang dialami oleh industri pariwisata dan sektor-sektor yang berhubungan dengannya menjadi sebuah tantangan tersendiri bagi pelaku industri ini sekaligus bagi pemerintah Prancis.
