"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji secara empiris hubungan kinerja keberlanjutan yang diproksikan oleh skor ESG dan skor pilar ESG dengan profitabilitas perusahaan yang diproksikan oleh ROA. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk menguji peran indeks saham syariah dalam memoderasi hubungan antara kinerja keberlanjutan dan profitabilitas. Pengujian dilakukan pada 75 sampel perusahaan di Indonesia dan Malaysia yang diperoleh melalui teknik purposive sampling dengan periode penelitian 2018-2022. Total observasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 375 tahun-perusahaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa skor ESG memiliki hubungan positif dengan profitabilitas perusahaan. Akan tetapi, peneliti tidak menemukan adanya hubungan antara skor pilar ESG dengan profitabilitas maupun peran moderasi indeks saham syariah terhadap hubungan antara kinerja keberlanjutan dengan profitabilitas perusahaan.

This study aims to empirically examine the relationship between sustainability performance proxied by ESG score and ESG pillars scores with firm profitability proxied by ROA. In addition, this study also aims to examine the role of the Islamic stock index in moderating the relationship between sustainability performance and firm profitability. Tests were conducted on 75 samples of companies in Indonesia and Malaysia obtained through purposive sampling techniques during the 2018-2022 research period. The total observations in this study amounted to 375 firm-year. The result shows that ESG score has a positive relationship with firm profitability. However, researchers did not find a relationship between ESG pillars scores and profitability or the moderating role of the Islamic stock index on the relationship between sustainability performance and firm profitability."
