"Tesis ini membahas wujud dan peran kapital sosial dalam pengembangan credit union di kota Batam. Ide dasarnya adalah kondisi umat katolik di kota Batam yang terdampak krisis ekonomi tahun 2008 dan Keuskupan Pangkal Pinang menyadari bahwa kini pelayanan rohani perlu memperhatikan aspek ekonomi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan desain deskriptif. Temuan penelitian menjelaskan bahwa rasa percaya yang dijaga dalam norma agama dan norma sosial akan menciptakan kapital sosial, dan turut membentuk kapitalfinansial dan kapital manusia yang bersinergi untuk kesejahteraan umat dan masyarakat

This thesis focus on the nature and role of social capital in the development of credit unions in Batam city. The basic idea is the condition of Catholics affected by the economic crisis of 2008 and the Diocese of Pangkal Pinang realize that now the ministry needs to pay attention to the economic aspect. This study is a qualitative research with descriptive design.
