Abstrak :
Kusta merupakan penyakit infeksi kronis yang dapat menyebabkan kecacatan. Jawa Timur merupakan propinsi terbanyak kasus kusta. Stigma negatif penyakit kusta dapat menyebabkan masalah psikososial yang serius. Tujuan penelitian ini mengidentifikasi pengaruh self help group terhadap harga diri pasien kusta di Rumah Sakit Kusta Kediri. Metode penelitian yang digunakan quasy-experiment one group pretest-posttest design dengan metode total sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah pasien kusta di Ruang Rawat Inap sebanyak 14 responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada perbedaan harga diri secara signifikan antara sebelum dan sesudah diberikan terapi (p-value=0,033). Pasien kusta perlu mengubah persepsi negatif tentang kusta agar mampu beradaptasi secara positif.

Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease that can cause disability. East Java is the province where leprosy cases are evident in Indonesia. Negative stigma on people with leprosy can cause serious psychosocial problems. The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of self help group toward self esteem of patients with leprosy in Kediri Leprosy Hospital. The design of this study was quasyexperimental design with one group intervention with total sampling method. The sample of this study ware patients in inpatient care (14 respondents). The results showed that there were significant differences of self esteem between before and after intervention (p-value=0,033). Patients with leprosy need to change their negative perception in order to be able to adapt positively.
