"Abstract:
"Saman is a story filtered through the lives of its feisty female protagonists and the enigmatic "hero" Saman. It is at once an expose of the oppression of the plantation workers in South Sumatra, a lyrical quest to understand the place of religion and spirituality in contemporary lives, a playful exploration of female sexuality and a story about love in all its guises, while touching on all of Indonesia's taboos, extramarital sex, political repression and the relationship between Christians and Muslims"

"This thesis will analyze the Marabar Cave incident in the novel A Passage to India as a mere hallucination experienced by Miss Quested. Psychoanalytical approach and interpretation of dreams will be used to analyze the hidden meaning of the hallucination. This analysis will prove that the hallucination is a form of Miss Quested's wish-fulfilment and that it is she who has hidden sexual desire towards Aziz. Then, by using the Orientalism theory by Edward Said, the relation of this meaning and the prejudice that black is lusty will be studied. It will be proved that the prejudice is a construction made to justify white domination. In the end, it is concluded that this novel is an effort of subversive colonial ideology and the empowerment of black man."

The 2015-2019 RJPMN target of unmet need for family planning at 9.9 percent has not been achieved, since the results of the 2017 IDHS on unmet need was 10.6 percent. Unmet need is one of the factors causing unwanted pregnancy and unsafe abortion which can cause morbidity and maternal death. To improve maternal health, as well as family planning, it is necessary to address the issue of women's empowerment which is the fifth objective of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) that covers gender equality and women empowerment. This study aims to study the relationship between women's empowerment, demographic and socioeconomic variables on the unmet need in Indonesia. This study uses data from the 2017 IDHS. The unit of analysis is women at childbearing age-aged 15-49 who were married/living together and had a need for family planning with observations totaling 26,249 individuals. The unmet need is categorized into unmet need for spacing and unmet need for limiting. The analytical methods used are binary logit regression and multinomial logit. The results showed that four of the five components of women's empowerment had a statistically significant effect on all categories of unmet need. These four components, namely women's work participation, level of knowledge, participation in household decision making, and asset ownership. Women's work participation, level of knowledge, and asset ownership negatively affect unmet need. Whereas participation in household decision making has a positive effect on unmet need. Meanwhile, attitude toward wife-beating has no significant effect on all categories of unmet need. Demographic and socioeconomic factors influence the unmet need, but not all variables have a significant effect on all categories of unmet need. Age, number of living children, and region of residence affect all unmet need categories. The place of residence only affects the unmet need for spacing and total unmet need. Husband's education influences unmet need for spacing and unmet need for limiting. Visit by family planning field workers only has a significant effect on unmet need for spacing, while women who visit health facilities only have a significant effect on unmet need for limiting."
