"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mereplikasi efek klasik Audience effect dan menyelidiki apakah evaluation apprehension theory cocok untuk memperluas Drive theory dalam menjelaskan efek audiens. Dengan menggunakan eksperimen kelompok independen, penelitian ini meminta 40 mahasiswa untuk menyelesaikan Spot the Different Task (SDT) yang sulit dengan memanipulasi kehadiran audiens (audiens dan tanpa audiens) dalam pengerjaan tugas tersebut. Hasil menemukan bahwa (1) peserta menemukan tugas diberikan sebagai cukup sulit, (2) peserta dalam kondisi audiens merasa bahwa mereka dievaluasi lebih dari kondisi tanpa audiens (3) tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan dalam penyelesaian SDT tingkat moderat antara kedua kondisi. Hasil penelitian ini masih sepenuhnya mendukung Evaluation apprehension theory karena tidak bertentangan dengan teori tersebut. Karena teori tidak merinci hipotesis untuk kinerja pada tugas bertingkatan moderat, studi di masa depan disarankan untuk menyelidiki apa yang menentukan kinerja dalam tugas moderat.

This study aims to replicate the classic audience effect and investigate whether evaluation apprehension fits the extension of drive theory on audience effect. Using independent-groups experiment, this study asked 40 university students to complete a difficult spot the difference task (SDT) with different manipulation of audience presence (audience and no audience). The results found that (1) participants found the task to be moderately difficult, (2) participants in audience condition felt that they were evaluated more than no audience condition (3) there was no significant difference in moderate SDT performance between the two condition. Findings still fully supported the apprehension theory as it did not contradict the theory. As the theory did not specify hypothesis for task performance on moderate task, future study is suggested to investigate what determines performance in moderate task."
