Bagi masyarakat daerah kota, personal characteristic merupakan salah satu faktor yang dipertimbangkan untuk memilih pemimpin, etnis salah satunya Lieske, 1989 . Etnis bagi individu bukan hanya sebagai kelompok sosial saja, namun sebagai bagian dari identitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai peran ethnic identity sebagai moderator hubungan antara kelompok etnis dengan perilaku memilih dalam Pemilihan Gubernur DKI Jakarta 2017 Putaran kedua. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 286 orang yang terdiri dari 115 orang dengan latar belakang etnis Tionghoa dan 171 orang dengan latar belakang etnis Jawa. Data dalam penelitian ini diambil secara online sebelum pemilihan berlangsung. Hasilnya membuktikan bahwa ethnic identity tidak memiliki efek moderasi antara kelompok etnis dengan perilaku memilih dalam Pemilihan Gubernur DKI Jakarta 2017. Namun terdapat perbedaan perilaku memilih yang signifikan antara kelompok etnis Tionghoa dan Jawa dalam Pemilihan Gubernur DKI Jakarta 2017.

ABSTRACT
For urban people, personal characteristic is one of the factors considered for choosing a leader, ethnic one of them Lieske, 1989 . Ethnicity for every individual is not a social group, but one is able to further assess its attachment to the ethnic group they have. This study to assess the role of ethnic identity as a moderator relationship between ethnic groups and voting behavior in the 2017 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election. This study involved two ethnic groups to the background of the candidate for governor to be elected. Participants in the study numbered 286 people consisting of 115 people with Chinese background and 171 people with Javanese ethnic background. The data in this study was taken online before the election took place. The result present that ethnic identity has no moderate effect between ethnic group and voting behavior in Jakarta 2017 Governor Election. However, there were significant differences in voting behavior between Chinese and Javanese ethnic groups in the 2017 Jakarta Gubernur election.
