"Sektor pekerja domestik, yang berada di ranah privat, dipengaruhi dan didominasi oleh perempuan namun aktivitas yang dilakukan sektor tersebut terus didevaluasi. Gerakan feminis untuk mencapai kesetaraan gender berperan dalam meningkatkan partisipasi perempuan di ranah publik namun disertai pula dengan peningkatan pemekerjaan pekerja domestik. Tulisan ini, terinspirasi Tronto, mengeksplorasi moralitas memekerjakan pekerja domestik sebagai implikasi dari feminisme. Dalam relasinya dengan majikan, tulisan ini menggunakan perspektif etika kepedulian dan kritik feminis untuk mengeksplisitkan dilema moral yang muncul dalam keputusan pekerja domestik untuk melakukan pekerjaan domestik dan, melalui konteks ini, saya menyatakan bahwa mengabaikan dimensi relasional dan emosional pekerja adalah salah secara moral bagi majikan. Kebutuhan pekerja domestik dan pihak yang berelasi merupakan bagian dari tanggung jawab bersama masyarakat penerima.

The domestic work sector, which takes place in the private realm, is influenced and dominated by women but the activities the sector does are continually devalued. In spite of feminist movements to achieve gender equality, the increase in women’s participation in the public realm is followed by the increase of hiring of the domestic workers. This paper, inspired by Tronto, explores the questions related to these workers as an implication of feminism. In relations to their employers, this paper uses care ethical approach and feminist criticism to explicate the moral dilemmas in the workers’ decision to take the job and, in light of this context, I argue that it is morally wrong for employers to ignore the relational and emotional dimension of the workers. The needs of the workers and their relata are part of the receiving society’s collective responsibility."
