Abstrak :
Artikel ini membahas mengenai strategi manipulatif yang dilakukan oleh tokoh utama dalam novel Partir. Novel ini menceritakan Azel, seorang pemuda yang dipaksa oleh keadaan untuk pergi dari Maroko karena keadaan perekonomian yang tidak stabil. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperlihatkan strategi yang dilakukan oleh tokoh utama pada novel utama ini yaitu Azel agar dapat keluar dari Maroko. penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif yang membongkar struktur naratif novel dengan teori struktural dari Todorov untuk menganalisis sekuen dan fungsi utama yang selanjutnya akan dimaknai menggunakan teori Representasi dari Stuart Hall. Struktur naratif teks memperlihatkan alur cerita yang digerakkan oleh usaha tokoh Azel untuk keluar dari Maroko dan menjadi pola untuk tokoh lainnya. Selanjutnya, teori Representasi dari Stuart Hall mengungkap pola usaha dari tokoh-tokoh Maroko ini menunjukkan identitas seseorang dapat digunakan sebagai sebuah strategi untuk mendapatkan keinginannya. Hasil analisis pada akhirnya menyimpulkan bahwa tokoh Azel memanfaatkan identitas homoseksualnya agar dapat memperoleh kebebasan yang diinginkan. ......This article discusses the manipulative strategies carried out by the main character in the novel Partir. This novel tells the story of Azel, a young man who is forced by his situation to leave Morocco because of the unstable economy. This study aims to show the strategies carried out by the main character in this main novel, Azel, in order to get out of Morocco. This study uses a qualitative method that unpacks the narrative structure of the novel with Todorov's structural theory to analyze the sequences and main functions which will then be interpreted using Stuart Hall's Representation theory. The narrative structure of the text shows a storyline driven by the character Azel's efforts to get out of Morocco and become a pattern for other characters. Furthermore, Stuart Hall's Representation theory reveals the pattern of the Moroccan characters' efforts, showing that one's identity can be used as a strategy to get what one wants. The analysis ultimately concludes that Azel's character utilizes his homosexual identity in order to obtain the desired freedom.
