Abstrak :
Tesis ini membahas tentang maraknya penipuan melalui media telpon, SMS dan internet, yang lazim disebut sebagai penipuan online, di wilayah Polda Metro Jaya. Mudahnya orang tertipu oleh pelaku dan kesulitan polisi dalam mengungkap kejahatan ini menjadi bahasan utama dalam tesis ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif analitis. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa korban mudah tertipu oleh pelaku kejahatan semacam ini lebih banyak disebabkan oleh perilaku konsumtif sebagai akibat pengaruh media massa yang begitu kuat terhadap pola kehidupan masyarakat saat ini. Kondisi tersebut diperburuk dengan masih lemahnya upaya-upaya pencegahan dari pihak kepolisian dan sulitnya mengungkap kejahatan dunia maya (cyber crime). Untuk itu disarankan untuk meningkatkan upaya pencegahan melalui sinergitas antar fungsi dalam organisasi Polda Metro Jaya ......This thesis discusses the rampant fraud through the media telephone, SMS and the Internet, which is commonly known as online fraud, in the area of the Jakarta Police Region. People have easily fooled by the actors and the difficulties of the police in uncovering the crime becomes the main subject in this thesis. This research use descriptive qualitative analytical method. Research concluded that the easily fooled victims by the perpetrators of these crimes caused more by the consumer behavior as a consequence of the strongly influence of the mass media against the current pattern of community life. These conditions worsened by the weakness of prevention efforts by the police and the difficulty to uncovering cyber crimes. It is recommended to increase prevention efforts through a synergtas between every functions within the police organization
