Adapun Ilmu Kedokteran Forensik terdefinisikan sebagai salah satu cabang spesialistik dari ilmu kedokteran yang memanfaatkan ilmu kedokteran dan bermanfaat untuk membantu penegakkan hukum dan masalah-masalah hukum. Pada mulanya ilmu kedokteran forensik hanya diperuntukkan bagi kepentingan peradilan, namun perkembangan jaman mengakibatkan pemanfaatannya juga di bidang-bidang yang bukan peradilan.Pada masyarakat kita, pemanfaatan ilmu kedokteran forensik Iebih banyak dikenal dalam pelayanan pembuatan visum et repertum yakni melalui pemeriksaan mayat atau bedah mayat. Meskipun sebenarnya masih banyak pelayanan yang bisa diberikan dari ilmu kedokteran forensik, seperti pemeriksaan korban perkosaan, pencabulan, paternitas dan lain sebagainya, namun sepertinya hal tersebut masih belum "familiar" atau karena memang belum dikenal. Jika boleh dikatakan saat ini masyarakat Iebih cenderung memberikan istilah dari ilmu kedokteran forensik adalah lama halnya dengan "ilmu bedah mayat" dan dokter forensik adalah "dokter mayat" atau "dokter bedah mayat", atau istilah-istilah semakna lainnya.Di Indonesia, sejak abad 19 pemanfaatan kedokteran forensik sudah dilakukan oleh dokter Belanda untuk kepentingan peradilan dan Iebih banyak dikenal berkaitan dengan bedah mayat atau pelayanan otopsinya saja. Sedangkan pemanfaatan pembuatan visum untuk orang hidup nampaknya belum lama dikenal oleh masyarakat atau konsumen pemintanya (penyidik).Dengan semakin majunya negara, akan menimbulkan konsekuensi meningkatnya kompleksitas pada setiap bidang kehidupan. Di negara berkembang kompleksitas ini mengakibatkan persaingan yang masingmasing berusaha untuk dapat mempertahankan kehidupannya, sehingga akhirnya mengakibatkan meningkatnya angka kriminaiitas. Sebagai gambaran maka jumlah kasus kejahatan di Indonesia terhadap tubuh dan jiwa manusia berfluktuasi sekitar 10.000 per tahunnya."

"ABSTRAK Penatalaksanaan Fistel Enterokutan masih sangat beragam dan sulit dengan tingkat kekambuhan dan kematian pasca pembedahan yang masih tinggi. Tujuan dari penatalaksanaan pasien dengan fistel enterokutan adalah koreksi defisit metabolik dan nutrisi, penutupan fistel dan mengembalikan kesinambungan saluran cerna. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan evaluasi penatalaksanaan bedah pada fistel enterokutan yang dirawat di RSUPN Cipto Mangunkusumo selama tahun 2014-2015. Penelitian ini dirancang secara retrospektif analitik dengan mengambil data rekam medik penderita di RSUPN Cipto Mangunkusumo pada periode 2014-2015. Ditemukan 27 kasus fistel enterokutan, dimana 21 kasus yang di evaluasi, rentang umur 27-65 tahun, terbanyak pada kelompok 40-60 tahun (52,38%), letak fistel terbanyak di ileum (57,14%), high output (71,43%), gizi buruk (52,38%), dilakukan tindakan operatif (85,71%), lama rawat <20 hari (66,67%), rekurensi fistel (19,05%) dan angka kematian (14,29%).ABSTRACT Management of enterocutaneous fistula still varies and frustrating with high recurrence and mortality rate. "Biomaterials for surgical operation offers a review of the latest advances made in developing bioabsorbable devices for surgical operations which include surgical adhesives (sealants), barriers for the prevention of tissue adhesion, polymers for fractured bone fixation, growth factors for the promotion of wound healing, and sutures. Over the years, many descriptions of biomaterials have appeared in academic journals and books, but most of them have been devoted to limited clinical areas. This is in marked contrast with this volume which covers a wide range of bioabsorbable devices used in surgery from a practical point of view. The currently applied polymeric devices are critical in surgery, but all involve serious problems due to their poor performance. For instance, fibrin glue, the most widely used surgical sealant, can produce only a weak gel with low adhesive strength to tissues, accentuating the limited effectiveness of current treatment options. Likewise, the currently available barrier membranes cannot fully prevent tissue adhesion at the acceptable level and are, moreover, not easy to handle with endoscopes due to their poor mechanical properties"
