Nutritional cosmetics is an emerging area of intense research and marketing and encompasses the concept that orally consumed dietary products can support healthier and more beautiful skin. There are numerous dietary ingredients now being marketed for their potential skin health and beauty benefits and many of these are supported by growing scientific evidence. The purpose of this book is to compile the scientific evidence showing the potential benefits of some of the more extensively researched ingredients. As far as possible, information about the benefits of ingredients consumed orally for skin health is presented. The information contained in this book will help provide insights into an emerging research area and provide scientific background for the potential clinical effectiveness for some of the better researched nutricosmetic ingredients. ABSTRAK
Latar Belakang: Prediksi kedalaman rongga epidural pada pediatrik untuk menghindari komplikasi tertusuknya dura. Rumus Bosenberg 1 mm/kgbb merupakan rumus yang sering digunakan untuk menentukan jarak kulit ke rongga epidural (loss of resistance) pada pasien pediatrik pada ras Kaukasia. Terdapat perbedaan anatomi antara ras Asia dan Kaukasia, sehingga menimbulkan pertanyaan apakah rumus Bosenberg 1 mm/kgbb tepat digunakan untuk menentukan jarak kulit ke rongga epidural pada pasien pediatrik ras Melayu dan faktor apa saja yang berhubungan untuk menentukan kedalaman rongga epidural. Metode : Penelitian ini adalah uji Bland Altman dan analisis regresi dengan pengambilan data dari rekam medis pasien pediatrik ras Melayu yang menjalani tindakan anestesia epidural pada bulan Januari 2011-Juli 2015 di RSUPN Cipto Mangunkusumo. Sebanyak 67 subjek yang menjalani tindakan anestesia epidural. Data yang diolah berupa usia, berat badan, tinggi badan dan loss of resistance (LOR). Dengan menggunakan SPSS 22, dilakukan uji Bland Altman terhadap LOR aktual dan LOR yang didapat berdasarkan rumus Bosenberg. Analisis regresi linear digunakan pada variabel usia, berat badan dan tinggi badan untuk menentukan hubungan antara ketiga variabel ini terhadap LOR. Hasil : Empat belas subjek dikeluarkan dalam penelitian karena data tidak lengkap dan terdapat kriteria ekslusi pada subjek. Tersisa 53 subjek yang masuk dalam penelitian ini. Uji Bland Altman menghasilkan rentang nilai limit of agreement -4,41 sampai 3,15. Nilai ini mempunyai rentang yang cukup lebar dari nilai limit of agreement yang diharapkan (-1,25 dan 1,25). Pada analisis bivariat diperoleh korelasi sangat kuat terhadap usia (r= 0,809), berat badan (r=0,966), dan tinggi badan (r=0,906). Analisis regresi linear menghasilkan tiga persamaan dari tiap-tiap variabel dengan nilai R 2 tertinggi adalah berat badan (92,7%) diikuti tinggi badan (75,9%) dan usia (57%). Simpulan: Rumus 1 mm/kgbb tidak tepat digunakan untuk menentukan jarak kulit ke rongga epidural pada pasien pediatrik ras Melayu di RSUPN Cipto Mangunkusumo. Terdapat hubungan antara usia, berat badan, dan tinggi badan terhadap jarak kulit ke rongga epidural.
ABSTRACT
Background : Skin-epidural distance prediction on pediatric patient undergoing procedure is necessary to prevent complication. Bosenberg prediction formula of 1 mm/kg of body weight is widely used in Caucasian pediatric patient. However, there is anatomical variation between Caucasian and Asian which created question on the accuracy of Bosenberg prediction formula if used on Malayan pediatric population and factors related to skin-epidural distance in these population. Methods : This study use cross-sectional design in which the data from medical record was used to collect information about age, weight, height and skin-epidural distance from pediatric (loss of resistance) patient undergoing epidural procedure. SPSS 22 was used to perform statistical calculation on this set of data. Accuracy of Bosenberg formula was analysed using Bland-Altman test in which the skinepidural distance measured using loss of resistance (LOR) compared with prediction from Bosenberg formula. Linear regression analysis was used to identify predictor variable for skin-epidural distance. Result : 67 subject was recruited for the study in which 14 was not included in analysis because the exclusion criteria. Bland-altman test reveal limit of agreement between -4,41 and 3.15 which is significantly larger than the expected limit of agreement (-1,25 to 1.25). There is strong corelation between age, weight and height to skin-epidural distance. The regression model derived from weight variable have the strongest power to predict skin-epidural distance (R value for weight, height and age based model is 92.7%, 75.9% and 57% respectively. Conclusion : The Bosenberg prediction formula of 1 mm/kg of body weight is not accurate to predict skin-epidural distance in Malayan pediatric population. There is relationship between age, height, and weight to skin-epidural distance in Malayan pediatric patient.

Lansia mengalami perubahan fisiologis pada sistem integumen diperparah dengan keadaan daerah perkotaan yang khas akan polusi, intensitas cahaya matahari yang tinggi dan rendahnya tingkat kelembaban. Kerusakan integritas kulit mempengaruhi kualitas hidup lansia dan dialami oleh Nenek N. Intervensi yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi masalah kerusakan integritas kulit adalah memandikan dengan sabun pH sesuai kulit, cairan Chloroxylenol dan minyak kelapa. Hasil intervensi yang dilakukan selama 6 minggu, integritas kulit membaik dan keluhan gatal berkurang. Intervensi ini dapat dilakukan sekali sehari oleh perawat dalam mengatasi kerusakan integritas kulit pada lansia di panti. ...... Elderly have physiological changes in the integument system. Urban condition such as pollution, sunlight intensity and low levels of humidity make severe. Impaired skin integrity affects the quality of elderly life experienced and also Nenek N. Interventions for impaired skin integrity are bathing with soap suitable skin pH, Chloroxylenol and coconut oil. The results of interventions conducted over 6 weeks, improves skin integrity and decreased itching complaints. Bathing once a day is nursing intervention for impaired skin integrity elderly in nursing home.

Skripsi non seminar ini meninjau industri tabir surya, yang kini menjadi salah satu produk perawatan kulit yang mulai menjadi suatu keharusan dikalangan generasi Z terlebih lagi dikarenakan perubahan iklim dan penipisan lapisan ozon yang kian memburuk. Penelitian ini ditujukan secara spesifik kepada suatu perusahaan Australia yang bergerak dalam bidang tabir surya yaitu Ultra Violette. Penelitian ditujukan untuk membantu pemilik dalam mengambil keputusan untuk menglobalisasikan produknya ke China atauAmerika Serikat. Dengan pertimbangan dari berbagai perspektif baik ekonomi, sosial, legal, dan teknologi, penelitian mengidentifikasi bahwa China adalah negara yang tepat untuk melakukan ekspansi produk. Walaupun Australia merupakan negara dengan peraturan pembuatan tabir surya terketat di dunia, Amerika Serikat sayangnya melarang penjualan produk tabir surya yang tidak dikembangkan di negeri mereka. Oleh karena itu, Ultra Violette disarankan untuk mengembangkan produk mereka ke China terlebih lagi, pasar China sangat mementingkan kualitas produk tabir surya yang dimana, Ultra Violette sudah jauh lebih unggul karena telah melewati proses regulasi di Australia yang merupakan daerah dengan kasus kanker kulit terbanyak di dunia. Penelitian ini juga memberikan cara atau solusi kepada Ultra Violette untuk dapat mengembangkan produk mereka ke China dengan lebih mudah. Juga disertai dengan mitigasi risiko yang kemungkinan bisa terjadi saat melakukan ekspansi produk. ......This thesis examines the sunscreen industry, a skin care product that is increasingly being seen as essential, particularly among Generation Z, in light of the escalating challenges posed by climate change and the deteriorating state of the ozone layer. The focus of this study pertains to an Australian enterprise operating within the sunscreen industry, specifically Ultra Violette. The purpose of research is to provide support to owners in their decision-making process regarding the globalization of their products in either China or the United States. Through a comprehensive analysis including several viewpoints covering economic, social, legal, and technological aspects, the research has determined that China presents itself as the optimal nation for product expansion. Australia is widely recognized as having the most rigors regulations pertaining to sunscreen manufacturing globally. Conversely, the United States has implemented a policy that restricts the sale of sunscreen products that are not domestically developed within their own borders. Hence, it is recommended that Ultra Violette undertake product development activities in China. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that the Chinese marketplaces significant emphasis on the quality of sunscreen products. In this regard, Ultra Violette stands out as a superior option due to its successful completion of the regulatory procedures in Australia. It is worth mentioning that Australia is recognized as a region with the highest incidence of skin cancer globally. This study also offers strategies or remedies for Ultra Violette to enhance their product penetration into the Chinese market. Furthermore, it is important to consider the use of risk mitigation strategies when undertaking product expansion initiatives.

The skin, the body’s largest organ, is strategically located at the interface with the external environment where it detects, integrates and responds to a diverse range of stressors, including solar radiation. It has already been established that the skin is an important peripheral neuroendocrine-immune organ that is closely networked with central regulatory systems. These capabilities contribute to the maintenance of peripheral homeostasis. Specifically, epidermal and dermal cells produce and respond to classical stress neurotransmitters, neuropeptides and hormones, production which is stimulated by ultraviolet radiation (UVR), biological factors (infectious and non-infectious) and other physical and chemical agents. Examples of local biologically active products are cytokines, biogenic amines (catecholamines, histamine, serotonin and N-acetyl-serotonin), melatonin, acetylocholine, neuropeptides including pituitary (proopiomelanocortin-derived ACTH, b-endorphin or MSH peptides, thyroid stimulating hormone) and hypothalamic (corticotropin-releasing factor and related urocortins, thyroid-releasing hormone) hormones, as well as enkephalins and dynorphins, thyroid hormones, steroids (glucocorticoids, mineralocorticoids, sex hormones, 7-δ steroids), secosteroids, opioids and endocannabinoids. The production of these molecules is hierarchical, organized along the algorithms of classical neuroendocrine axes such as the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis (HPA), hypothalamic-thyroid axis (HPT), serotoninergic, melatoninergic, catecholaminergic, cholinergic, steroid/secosteroidogenic, opioid and endocannabinoid systems. Disruptions of these axes or of communication between them may lead to skin and/or systemic diseases. These local neuroendocrine networks also serve to limit the effect of noxious environmental agents to preserve local and consequently global homeostasis. Moreover, the skin-derived factors/systems can also activate cutaneous nerve endings to alert the brain to changes in the epidermal or dermal environments, or alternatively to activate other coordinating centers by direct (spinal cord) neurotransmission without brain involvement. Furthermore, rapid and reciprocal communications between epidermal and dermal and adnexal compartments are also mediated by neurotransmission including antidromic modes of conduction. Lastly, skin cells and the skin as an organ coordinate and/or regulate not only peripheral but also global homeostasis.

Judul pidato pengukuhan yang saya kemukakan adalah KANKER KULIT DI INDONESIA Antisipasi peningkatan pada masa mendatang. Alasan saya memilih judul ini, pertama ialah karena bidang ilmu yang saya tekuni, yaitu Patologi Anatomik, dalam kegiatan sehari-hari banyak menangani masalah penyakit kanker. Kedua, di antara berbagai jenis kanker, ternyata kanker kulit menunjukkan angka kejadian tinggi (menurut data berdasarkan pencatatan patologi); yaitu menduduki peringkat ketiga setelah kanker payudara dan kanker leher rahim. Ketiga, penyakit kanker sampai saat ini masih merupakan penyakit yang belum dapat dikendalikan dengan sempurna, sehingga masih banyak mengakibatkan kematian, menimbulkan cacat, dan biaya pengobatannya tinggi. Sebetulnya kanker kulit mudah dilihat dan diagnosisnya relatif lebih cepat ditegakan, sehingga relatif lebih cepat dapat diobati, namun beberapa di antaranya masih menimbulkan kematian. Keempat, kanker kulit sebagian besar disebabkan oleh pajanan lama dan berulang kali sinar ultraviolet (UV) yang berasal dari sinar matahari, yang belakangan dikaitkan dengan penipisan lapisan ozon di angkasa. Sebelum memasuki inti pembicaraan tentang kanker kulit, perkenankanlah saya menjelaskan dahulu istilah patologi, peran dan fungsi patologi serta kedudukan patologi dalam ilmu kedokteran. Saya kemukakan di sini oleh karena agaknya belum semua orang paham benar tentang istilah tersebut. Patologi ialah studi tentang penyakit yang meliputi penyebab penyakit (etiologi), perkembangan penyakit (patogenesis), kelainan struktural (perubahan morfologi), serta perubahan fungsi yang terjadi pada sel atau jaringan tubuh. Tanda dan gejala suatu penyakit timbul sebagai akibat perubahan fungsi dan morfologi derajat tertentu, yang terjadi pada sel atau jaringan tubuh. Morfologi sel atau jaringan tubuh dapat dilihat pada 4 tingkat yang berbeda, yaitu makroskopik, mikroskopik, struktur ultra dan molekular. Perkembangan mutakhir ilmu-ilmu biokimia, biologi molekular, genetika, biologi sel, fisiologi dan ilmu dasar lain telah meningkatkan pengetahuan fungsi abnormal sel atau jaringan tubuh pada penyakit, di samping kelainan morfologi yang terjadi. Peran patologi ialah sebagai penghubung antara ilmu kedokteran dasar dan ilmu kedoktran klinis. Berfungsi sebagai jembatan yang merupakan titian bagi seorang dokter dalam upaya menyembuhkan suatu penyakit pada pasien. Ketepatan diagnosis dan pengobatan atau kemampuan membuat keputusan yang tepat dari suatu pengamatan. tentang penyakit bergantung kepada pijakan patologi yang akan menentukan kapan dan bagaimana seorang dokter mempergunakan kecakapannya untuk menyembuhkan pasien. Kedudukan Patologi di dalam ilmu kedokteran diibaratkan sebagai batang dan cabang dari suatu pohon ilmu kedokteran yang akarnya ialah ilmu dasar dan daunnya ialah praktek klinis. Patologi Anatomik merupakan bagian dari ilmu Patologi yang menelaah perubahan morfologi dan fungsi sel atau jaringan tubuh pada penyakit dan meliputi histopatologi, sitopatologi, histokimia, imunologi.
