Frisendal, Thomas
Abstrak :
[This book undertakes to marry the concepts of concept mapping with a design thinking approach in the context of business analysis. While in the past a lot of attention has been paid to the business process side, this book now focusses information quality and valuation, master data and hierarchy management, business rules automation and business semantics as examples for business innovation opportunities. The book shows how to take Business Concept Maps further as information models for new IT paradigms. In a way this books redefines and extends business analysis towards solutions that can be described as business synthesis or business development. Business modellers, analysts and controllers, as well as enterprise information architects, will benefit from the intuitive modelling and designing approach presented in this book. The pragmatic and agile methods presented can be directly applied to improve the way organizations manage their business concepts and their relationships., This book undertakes to marry the concepts of concept mapping with a design thinking approach in the context of business analysis. This book constitutes the proceedings of the Second Enterprise Engineering Working Conference (EEWC), held in Delft, The Netherlands, during May 7-8, 2012. EEWC aims at addressing the challenges that modern and complex enterprises are facing in a rapidly changing world. The participants of the working conference share a belief that dealing with these challenges requires rigorous and scientific solutions, focusing on the design and engineering of enterprises. The goal of EEWC is to stimulate interaction between the different stakeholders, scientists as well as practitioners, interested in making enterprise engineering a reality. The eight papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book. EEWC 2012 had 20 submissions and accepted eight for publication. The topics of the presented papers allowed for active participation in interesting discussions and exchange of ideas and stimulated future cooperation among the participants. This made EEWC a real ‘working conference’ contributing to the further development of enterprise engineering as a mature discipline. Topics covered include: foundations of enterprise engineering; enterprise control, flexibility and governance and specifying value.

BIS workshops give researchers the opportunity to share their preliminary ideas and first experimental results, and discuss research hypotheses with a highly focused audience. The 24 papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 63 submissions and were revised and extended after the event. The workshop topics covered applications and economics of knowledge-based technologies (AKTB), business and IT alignment (BITA), enterprise systems for higher education (ESHE), and formal semantics for future enterprises (FSFE). In addition, one invited paper from BITA is also included in this volume.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the First International Symposium on Data-Driven Process Discovery and Analysis held in Campione d'Italia, Italy, in June/July 2011. The 11 revised full papers were carefully selected from 31 submissions. In addition to the thorough review process, the lively discussions at the event itself also helped the authors to improve their papers and to foster interesting extensions. The selected papers cover a wide range of topics spanning from theoretical issues related to process representation to practical experience in process discovery and analysis.

Reichert, Manfred
Abstrak :
With this book, Reichert and Weber address these flexibility needs and provide an overview of PAIS with a strong focus on methods and technologies fostering flexibility for all phases of the process lifecycle (i.e., modeling, configuration, execution and evolution). Their presentation is divided into six parts. Part I starts with an introduction of fundamental PAIS concepts and establishes the context of process flexibility in the light of practical scenarios. Part II focuses on flexibility support for pre-specified processes, the currently predominant paradigm in the field of business process management (BPM). Part III details flexibility support for loosely specified processes, which only partially specify the process model at build-time, while decisions regarding the exact specification of certain model parts are deferred to the run-time. Part IV deals with user- and data-driven processes, which aim at a tight integration of processes and data, and hence enable an increased flexibility compared to traditional PAIS. Part V introduces existing technologies and systems for the realization of a flexible PAIS. Finally, part VI summarizes the main ideas of this book and gives an outlook on advanced flexibility issues.

Abstrak :
This book contains the refereed proceedings of the Third Scandinavian Conference on Information Systems (SCIS), held in Sigtuna, Sweden, in August 2012. The digitization of modern society’s information and communication structures has fundamentally changed our everyday life, economy, business, and society. How can information systems research as an academic yet pragmatic discipline contribute to designing the interactive society? The Scandinavian IS tradition with its emphasis on engaged scholarship, action research, and socially embedded design has a lot to contribute to this discussion. The 10 papers accepted for presentation at the conference were selected from 33 submissions, and they are grouped into two main themes, the interactive society and design.
