"Keuangan mikro merupakan alat yang efektif untuk melawan kemiskinan. Adanya riba dalam sistem keuangan mikro konvensional mendorong tumbuhnya institusi keuangan mikro Islam dengan misi sosial maupun komersial. Institusi keuangan mikro Islam dengan misi sosial dapat memanfaatkan dana sosial Islam berupa zakat dan shodaqoh. Analisa praktek oleh 5 Lembaga Amil Zakat di Indonesia menunjukkan bahwa keberlanjutan organisasi terjadi karena adanya kepercayaan atas operasi LAZ sehingga mampu melakukan penghimpunan zakat yang lebih banyak dan penghimpunan infaq dari program event ataupun CSR. LAZ mampu menjadi alternatif untuk menyediakan keuangan mikro bagi segmen masyarakat miskin terbawah guna pengentasan kemiskinan.

Microfinance is an effective tool to fight poverty. The existence of usury in conventional microfinance system boosting the growth of Islamic microfinance institutions with social and commercial missions. Islamic microfinance institution with a social mission may utilize Islamic charity in the form of zakah and shodaqoh.
