This thesis describes the relationship between Indonesian migrants and local people of Long Busang Malaysia. The condition of Long Busang away from the Malaysian central government control, make the boundary situation was "very liquid". So the rules set by the state as a reference for determining the territory and social boundaries becomes difficult to be implemented. This thesis aims to look at the conception of the social boundaries by people living in the border through the social interaction of actors in the border. I perform data collection by observation and interviews to obtain narratives on the border to the community of Long busang through social relations with migrants from Indonesia, experience the historical background and context of the border region."

"Amidst the many changes in the approaches taken by anthropologists today, the author re-examines the works produced in the more humanistic tradition of anthropology. She begins with the question of whether anthropological research can be conducted with an idiographic approach. Through a discussion of Verstehen, experience and hermeneutics, and drawing from her own experiences in the field, the author argues that the methods characteristic of a more humanistic anthropology can be applied to anthropological research and remain scientifically sound."

"In military concerns, anthropology has historically been applied in at least three domains: First, it has identified, uncovered, and gotten deep insights of the enemies in holistic accounts; second, it has searched thoroughly the characters and potentialities of society or nation for defence purposes; and third, the mode of recruitment to the military, in the past and present and future, for defending our nation. This article also describes that in the 21'' century the nature of anthropology's looking at man, society and culture has been shifting from conventional positivism to constructivism paradigms. It departs from ethnic-groups pluralistic to more egalitarian-democratic views so that the military recruitment has been implied upon by the transformation ideas. "
