"This book involves an in-depth analysis of the ethical, political and philosophical issues related to health-oriented screening programs. It explores the considerations that arise when heath care interacts with other societal institutions on a large scale, as is the case with screening.
These questions are addressed by applying philosophical methods of conceptual analysis, as well as models and theories from moral and political philosophy, medical ethics, and public health ethics, to a large number of ongoing and proposed screening programs which makes this book the first comprehensive work on the ethics of screening. "Modern medicine enables us to keep many people alive after they have suffered severe brain damage and show no reliable outward signs of consciousness. Many such patients are misdiagnosed as being in a permanent vegetative state when they are actually in a minimally conscious state. This mistake has far-reaching implications for treatment and prognosis. To alleviate this problem, neuroscientists have recently developed new brain-scanning methods for detecting consciousness in some of these patients and even for asking them questions, including Do you want to stay alive? These new technological abilities raise many questions about what exactly these methods reveal (Is it really consciousness?), how reliable they are (Do they fail to detect consciousness in some patients who are conscious?), what these patients lives are like (Do they feel pain?), what we should do for and to these patients (Should we let them die?), who should decide (Are these patients competent to decide for themselves?), and which policies should governments and hospitals enact (Which kinds of treatment should be made available?). All of these questions and more are addressed in this collection of original papers. The prominent contributors provide background information, survey the issues and positions, and take controversial stands from a wide variety of perspectives, including neuroscience and neurology, law and policy, and philosophy and ethics. This collection should interest not only academics but anyone who might suffer brain damage, which includes us all.

Abortion is a problem that is always reaping the pros and cons in various societies globally. Parts of society oppose the legalization of the practice of abortion because of that action considered to violate human rights by depriving fetal rights of life. However, there are also people who support the legalization of the practice of abortion with the argument that women have autonomy or control for their own bodies and for the sake of women's rights regarding reproductive health. In Indonesia, abortion is prohibited with certain exceptions, such as abortion due to medical reasons indications of emergency and abortion caused by rape.
This essay will discuss about legalizing abortion from an ethical and legal perspective. This research uses the normative juridical method. The data source used in this study is secondary data, such as health laws and implementing regulations, Indonesian Code of Medical Ethics, literature, journals and so on. The data obtained will be analyzed using a qualitative approach.
Based on the results of the study, the provisions regarding abortion are regulated in the Health Act and its implementing regulations are caused by arguments and even rejection by doctors because they are considered to be in conflict with Indonesian Medical Ethics Code. Arguments based on differences values or perspectives adopted by each individual. In the face of this ethical dilemma, health professionals, especially doctors, are forced to provide ethical judgments and morally responsible decisions. In addition, the government also needs to provide information to the public about safe abortion and ensure the availability of legal abortion services for people who need these services.

This thesis discusses the role and legal position of the Medical Ethics Honorary Council in judge decisions and analyzes decision No. 90/PID.B/2011/PN.MDO, Cassation No. 365 K/PID. 2012, and Decision Number 79 PK/PID/2013. The purpose of this study is to understand the role of the Medical Ethics Honorary Council in resolving medical disputes in general courts and analyzing decisions. This research is a type of juridical normative descriptive research, that is, this research aims to describe precisely the characteristics of a person, condition, symptom or a certain group, or to determine the spread of a symptom, or to determine the relationship of a symptom to other symptoms. symptoms in society. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that MKEK trials can be opened or closed with due observance of certain conditions and announced by the MKEK Examination Council, and MKEK decisions can serve as evidence in general trials with the permission of the Chief Justice of the MKEK. Central MKEK. In carrying out their profession, doctors and other health workers are expected to pay attention to the rights of patients and their obligations in trying to cure a patient's illness in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations, and always be guided by the Indonesian Medical Code of Ethics. , which aims to prevent doctors from medical disputes and damage. undesirable. Then there are still provisions in ORTALA that seem to side with doctors, not to the community so that it needs to be reviewed in order to protect the interests of all parties. It is better if the provisions for the trial procedure of the MKEK are also regulated in the Medical Practice Law which aims to clarify the legal position of the MKEK trial so that it is not misused for the benefit of one party only."

Seedhouse, David
"Thoughtful Health Care offers a timely antidote to a climate dominated by endless rules, regulations, mission statements, and codes of practice. Fixation on avoiding risk at all costs has created a checkbox culture where everyone is treated according to standardized plans. Yet, people are complicated, and cannot be understood disconnected from the complex histories, values, and environments that shape us. Obsessive focus on “safety first” has obscured this reality and drastically undervalued critical thinking and insightful practice. David Seedhouse explains how simplistic labeling, mindless targets and empty slogans have created a delusion of control and efficiency, obscuring actual patient and carer realities. Using thought-provoking examples from health care and beyond, the book advocates the restoration of thoughtfulness, creativity, and independence in health work. By reading this book, students and practitioners alike will be aided in developing their decision making and critical thinking skills, and ultimately serve those in their care better and with more honesty. The book ends with a powerful and practical toolkit that can be used thoughtfully and effectively by every open-minded health worker. Thoughtful Health Care is for any health worker committed to caring with ethical awareness and practical sensitivity."
