The book assumes no prior background in geometric control theory. The book also adopts a tutorial style by way of examples that illustrate the geometric and abstract algebra concepts used in linear geometric control. In addition, the matrix calculations required for the studied control synthesis problems of linear multivariable control are illustrated via a set of running design examples. As such, some of the design examples are of higher dimension than one may typically see in a text.

In this book, which focuses on the use of iterative methods for solving large sparse systems of linear equations, templates are introduced to meet the needs of both the traditional user and the high-performance specialist. Templates, a description of a general algorithm rather than the executable object or source code more commonly found in a conventional software library, offer whatever degree of customization the user may desire. Templates offer three distinct advantages: they are general and reusable; they are not language specific; and they exploit the expertise of both the numerical analyst, who creates a template reflecting in-depth knowledge of a specific numerical technique, and the computational scientist, who then provides "value-added" capability to the general template description, customizing it for specific needs. For each template that is presented, the authors provide: a mathematical description of the flow of algorithm; discussion of convergence and stopping criteria to use in the iteration; suggestions for applying a method to special matrix types; advice for tuning the template; tips on parallel implementations; and hints as to when and why a method is useful.

Exact and Approximate Modeling of Linear Systems: A Behavioral Approach elegantly introduces the behavioral approach to mathematical modeling, an approach that requires models to be viewed as sets of possible outcomes rather than to be a priori bound to particular representations. The authors discuss exact and approximate fitting of data by linear, bilinear, and quadratic static models and linear dynamic models, a formulation that enables readers to select the most suitable representation for a particular purpose. This book presents exact subspace-type and approximate optimization-based identification methods, as well as representation-free problem formulations, an overview of solution approaches, and software implementation. Readers will find an exposition of a wide variety of modeling problems starting from observed data. The presented theory leads to algorithms that are implemented in C language and in MATLAB.

Aluminium merupakan salah satu komoditas utama di berbagai industri karena sifatnya yang tahan karat. Namun, lapisan oksida Al2O3 yang timbul pada permukaan aluminium menjadikan aluminium rentan terkena deformasi saat proses pengelasan. Friction stir welding (FSW) merupakan salah satu metode pengelasan yang mampu menjadikan proses pengelasan aluminium menjadi lebih kuat karena mikrostruktur hasil proses pengelasannya yang lebih halus, sehingga laju korosi produk pengelasan juga dapat menurun. Karakteristik laju korosi sampel FSW di observasi pada lingkungan netral (3.5 wt% NaCl), asam (0.5 M H2SO4), dan basa (0.5 M NaOH) dengan metode linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) untuk menganalisis pengaruh proses FSW terhadap sifat korosi pada lingkungan yang berbeda, karakterisasi XRD digunakan untuk menganalisis parameter kristal sampel Base metal (BM) dan FSW. Hasil pengujian korosi menunjukkan peningkatan laju korosi pada lingkungan netral, asam, dan basa secara berturut-turut sebesar -20,75%; 10,54%; dan 4,83%. Kemudian berdasarkan hasil difraksi sinar X menggunakan metode W-H plot diketahui terjadi proses pembesaran parameter ukuran rata-rata kristal dari 437,394 Å menjadi 650,957 Å pada sampel FSW. Tingginya nilai microstrain dan pergeseran dan pelebaran puncak difraksi menjadi indikasi terdapat tegangan sisa pada sampel FSW hasil dari proses pengelasan yang mengurangi sifat ketahanan korosi sampel FSW...... Aluminum is one of the main commodities in various industries because of its corrosion resistance. However, the Al2O3 oxide layers that appears on the aluminum surface makes aluminum susceptible to deformation during the welding process. Friction stir welding (FSW) is a welding method that can make the product of welded aluminum stronger because the microstructure of the welding products is smoother, so that the corrosion rate of welding products can also decrease. The characteristics of the corrosion rate of FSW samples were observed in neutral (3.5 wt% NaCl), acidic (0.5 M H2SO4), and alkaline (0.5 M NaOH) environments using the linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) method to analyze the effect of the FSW process on corrosion properties in the different environment, XRD characterization was used to analyze the crystal parameters of the Base metal (BM) and FSW samples. The results of the corrosion test showed an increase in the corrosion rate in neutral, acidic, and alkaline environments, respectively, by 10.54%; -20.75%; and 4.83%. Then based on the results of X-ray diffraction using the W-H plot method, it is known that there is a process of enlargement of the average crystal size parameter from 437,394 to 650,957 in the FSW sample. The high value of microstrain and the shift and broadening of the diffraction peaks are an indication that there is residual stress in the FSW sample resulting from the welding process which reduces the corrosion resistance properties of the FSW sample.

Stainless steel memiliki struktur mikro yang lengkap dan stabil dan banyak digunakan dalam industri modern seperti pembuatan kapal uap, produksi kimia dan reaktor nuklir karena ketahanan terhadap korosi dan kemampuan mekanik yang baik terhadap suhu tinggi, perlakuan panas tidak akan mempengaruhi kekerasan permukaan, perlu ditempa untuk mengurangi ukuran butir sehingga dapat mengeraskan permukaan menggunakan variasi beban 1 kg, 2 kg, 3 kg, mengkarakterisasi bahan menggunakan teknik difraksi sinar-X (XRD), dan sifat elektrokimia menggunakan teknik Linear Sweep Voltammetry (LSV), Open Circuit Potentiometry Technique (OCP) dan Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) dalam NaCl 3,5% wt. Terdapat pengecilan ukuran bulir pada sampel yang telah di beri penempaan dari 21 nm menjadi 10 nm pada 1 kg, 34 nm pada 2 kg, 10 nm pada 3 kg dan 4 nm pada 4 kg, karena penempaan juga menambah banyak nya grain menyebabkan potensi korosi semakin timggi yaitu laju korosi pada sampel dari 1,45 μm/tahun, menjadi 1,19 μm/tahun pada 1 kg, 1, 91 μm/tahun pada 2 kg dan 2,62 μm/tahun pada 3 kg dengan suhu uji 25 ̊C menggunakan larutan NaCl 3,5% wt......Stainless steel has a complete and stable microstructure and is widely used in modern industries such as steamship making, chemical production, and nuclear reactors because of its corrosion resistance and good mechanical ability to high temperature, heat treatment will not affect the surface hardness, need to be forged to reduce grain size so that it can harden the surface using variations in the load of 1 kg, 2 kg, and 3 kg, characterize material using X-ray diffraction technique, and the electrochemical properties using linear sweep voltammetry technique (LSV), open circuit potentiometry technique (OCP) and Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) in NaCl 3.5% wt. There is a reduction in grain size in the sample which has been forged from 21 nm to 10 nm at 1 kg, 34 nm at 2 kg, 10 nm at 3 kg and 4 nm at 4 kg because forging also adds much grain causing more corrosion potential lead is the corrosion rate in the sample from 1.45 μm / year, to 1.19 μm / year at 1 kg, 1, 91 μm / year at 2 kg and 2.62 μm / year at 3 kg with a test temperature of 25 ̊C using a solution of NaCl 3.5% wt
