This study analyzes the phenomenon of trafficking in persons (TIP) involving Indonesian citizens (WNI) to Myanmar through fraudulent job offers, which ultimately leads to the exploitation of victims in online gambling and scam industries in Myawaddy, Myanmar. Globalization has driven the massive use of technology, while the Covid-19 pandemic has intensified economic vulnerability. These two factors have contributed to the shift of crime into a transnational organized form. Myanmar, as a region with a weak legal system and ongoing armed conflict, has become a hub for illegal industries that create opportunities for TIP to occur. This study shows that the trafficking process involving Indonesian victims consists of three key elements: act, means, and purpose, which are evident in the recruitment, transportation, and exploitation of victims as operators in online scams and gambling. Using the Routine Activity Theory (RAT) framework, the study explains that TIP occurs when three elements converge: motivated offenders seeking financial gain, vulnerable targets due to economic pressure and low education, and the absence of capable guardians caused by weak oversight and jurisdictional limitations in addressing transnational crime."

"Machine learning and nonparametric function estimation procedures can be effectively used in forecasting. One important and current application is used to make forecasts of “future dangerousness" to inform criminal justice decision. Examples include the decision to release an individual on parole, determination of the parole conditions, bail recommendations, and sentencing. Since the 1920s, "risk assessments" of various kinds have been used in parole hearings, but the current availability of large administrative data bases, inexpensive computing power, and developments in statistics and computer science have increased their accuracy and applicability. In this book, these developments are considered with particular emphasis on the statistical and computer science tools, under the rubric of supervised learning, that can dramatically improve these kinds of forecasts in criminal justice settings. ""This unique text offers an interdisciplinary perspective on crime and criminality by integrating the latest theories, concepts, and research from sociology, psychology, and biology. Offering a more complete look at the world of criminology than any other existing text, authors Anthony Walsh and Lee Ellis first present criminological theory and concepts in their traditional form and then show how integrating theory and concepts from the more basic sciences can complement, expand, strengthen, and add coherence to them."--BOOK JACKET."

rational choice theory.
Robbery is a crime that not only causes economic losses but also physical losses, making robbery a form of layered crime. Robbery prevention strategies include intervening in the methods of robbers, especially in the aspect of target selection. This research focuses on target selection by a professional robber with the initials X, who makes begal and jambret as a job to survive. This research aims to identify the characteristics of the ideal target by X and analyze the decision-making process by X when committing robbery. This paper employs a qualitative research approach, utilizing in-depth interviews with X as the primary source of information. The results showed that X did not commit robbery randomly. Instead, X has specific target selection criteria before committing a robbery. The researcher integrated the concept of target selection (Wilson, 1987) and the CRAVED model to produce five target selection criteria by X, which include profitability, accessibility, manageability, degree of risk, and appropriateness. These criteria are formed through rational considerations to maximize profit while minimizing risks, using rational choice theory."
