"Research was conducted in Gaung Anak Serka River Sub - Province Indragiri Hilir in October till Januari 2008 as a mean to know status of quality of teritoral water of Gaung Anak Serka River evaluated from physics and chemical parameter, and community structure of makrozoobenthos. The methods used of survey and intake of sampel taken twice, in each station of sample taken at 3 dots at random. Research station consist of; station 1 (GAS river estuary), station 2 (Teluk Pinang), station 3 (Dusun Murni), station 4 (Teluk Pantaian), station 5 (Sungai Iliran), station 6 (Teluk Sungka), Station 7 (Tuasan),station 8 (Dusun Pergam), station 9 (Sungai Empat) and station 10 (Rambaian). Data has taken of quality of water either throughphysics and chemical parameter and also makrozoobenthos. Data of exsitu analysed in Laboratory Faculty of Fishery and Marine Science of Riau University. Quality of physics water parameters (tempaerature, brightness, current flow) sill normal in a condition according to PP.82. year 2001, except brightness for station resideng in part of downstream (station 1-5) have passed normal still. Chemical parameters (pH,DO.TSS.COD.BOD,Nitrate and fospat) also stay in normal gyration. While, organism of macrozoobenthos found in river consist of 6 set of relatives, 5 class and 6 ordo. Set of relatives consist of Tucideae, chironomideae, Baetidae, Ctenodrillidae. Donacidae and Nassariidae. Class covers oligochaeta, insecta ,polychaeta,Pelecypoda and Gastropoda. Ordo Nematoda, Doptera Ephemerptera, Ctenodrilida, veneridae and Neagastropoda. Types of Macrozoobenthos are Tubifek sp, Sp Chironomous, Baetis Sp , Ctenodrillus Serratus and Cyclop neritae."

"The antimicrobial effects of rhizophora apiculata pyroligneous acid on pathogenic microorganisms were evaluated. Pyroligneous acid (PA) and concentrated pyroligneous acid (CPA) showed parious levels of antimocrobial activity against 14 speciest of microorganisms (10 species of bacteria, 2 species of yeasts and 2 species of fungi) with bacteria, as the most suscaptible miicroorganisms. The bio-active component(s) of PA was isolated using dichloromethane as the extraction solvent (resulted in DCM A) and also an acid - base treatment to DCM A (resulted in DCM B) which was believed to contain all the valuable phenolic compounds in PA . Antimicrobial screening on DCM A and DCM B showed significant activity againts all the microorganisms tested. DCM B was further subjected to MIC/MLC (Minimum Inhibitory Concentration and Minimum Lethal Concentration) and SEM studies. The results showed that bacteria were the most susceptible againts DCM B with MIC/MLC value of 1.6-3. 1/3. 1-6.3 mg ml, while yeasts and fungi shared the same MIC/MLC value of 3.1/6.3 mg ml. The SEM study revealed that in addition of inhibiting the growth of the microorganisms, DCM B also caused severe morphological alterations on the cells of the microorganisms in which it was suggested that cell lysis and death had taken place."

"The potential of surface water supply in Cicatih-Cimandiri watershed is apparent as river flows along the year and catered from abundant spring waters. This potential water resources e used for various uses of deomestic, industry municipal, and agriculture. Increasing water requirements in the area in the last decade, with growing bottled water industries , water supply needs to be calculated more accurately. To determine river flow discharge, an AWLR (automatic water level recorder) was installed at one of the tributory, Cibojong, based on scoring analysis, there are two parameters (density of drainage network and maximum stream order) that have significant influence to surface water supply. Results of analysis indicated that proportions of the two parameters contributing to river discharge were balanced. To optimize water allocation, irrigation scheduling schemes was exercised to support existing rice field practices. Beside that, total water supply for 15 sub-districts in Cicatih-Cimandiri watershed ranges from 69.637 MCM to 336.177 MCM in dry season and ranges about double in west season. Total irrigated rice area in the 15 sub-districts was about 15.093 ha (BPS Survey , 2007) therefore the potential water supply would be sufficient to support three rice planting seasons."
