Infeksi STH dapat menyebabkan gangguan penyerapan nutrisi termasuk vitamin A. Belum diketahui pengaruh pengobatan cacingan terhadap status vitamin A anak SD.

Soil Transmitted Helminthes (STH) infection is still a health problem in Indonesia and often found together with Vitamin A Deficiency (VAD). STH infection can impair absorption of nutrients including vitamin A. The effect of deworming on the vitamin A status of primary school children is unknown. Pre-experimental study was carried on children of grade 3-5 at one of primary schools in North Jakarta. Stool and blood samples were taken before and three weeks after treatment (albendazole 400 mg for three consecutive days). FLOTAC examination was used to determine STH infections and High Performance Liquid Chromatography for serum retinol. The prevalence of STH was 61.9%. Of 99 children, 2% had moderate deficiency (<0,7 μmol/l) and 17,2% had mild (<1,05 μmol/l) deficiency of vitamin A. STH infection was not significantly associated with serum retinol concentration at baseline. Boys had lower serum retinol concentration compared to girls (p = 0.045). After treatment serum retinol concentrations was increased with marginal significance (p = 0.05), occurring in those infected with STH or not. Serum retinol concentration at baseline had an inverse association with the change in serum retinol concentration after treatment (ß = -0.340, p = 0.002). To conclude, STH infection had no effect on serum retinol concentration before treatment as well as the change in serum retinol concentration after treatment. Gender was one of the factors that influenced the serum retinol concentrations at baseline. Serum retinol concentration at baseline can be used as a predictor for the magnitude of change in serum retinol concentration after treatment."

ABSTRACT
;It is saddening to face the fact of fruit and vegetable consumption in Indonesia,
whereas 93,6% and 93,5% on national scale in 2007 and 2013 respectively,
indicating that most of Indonesia?s population has failed to fulfill their needs of fruit
and vegetable which has been recommended by Balanced Diet Guidance, 400 grams
per day. One of the least amongst all is Riau Province. This study aims to identify
factors affected with fruit and vegetable consumption among Riau residents. Using
cross sectional design, this study was held in April to May 2015, conducted by 87
college students in University of Indonesia, and chosen with systematic random
sampling technique. Data was compiled using self-registered questionnaire and semiquantitative
food frequency questionnaire. The result has shown that 85,1%
respondents are unable to achieve the minimum requirement for fruit and vegetable
consumption. Through chi-square test, there are a significant relation between
vegetable preference (p-value = 0,034, OR = 0,806), mother?s education level (pvalue
= 0,097, OR = 6,122), and mother?s ethnicity (p-value = 0,006, OR = 6,028)

"The long-awaited 2nd edition of this best-selling research methods handbook is fully updated and includes brand new coverage of online research methods and techniques, mixed methodology and qualitative analysis. There is an entire chapter contributed by Professor Julie McLeod, Sue Childs and Elizabeth Lomas focusing on research data management, applying evidence from the recent JISC funded 'DATUM' project. The first to focus entirely on the needs of the information and communications community, it guides the would-be researcher through the variety of possibilities open to them under the heading "research" and provides students with the confidence to embark on their dissertations. The focus here is on the 'doing' and although the philosophy and theory of research is explored to provide context, this is essentially a practical exploration of the whole research process with each chapter fully supported by examples and exercises tried and tested over a whole teaching career. The book will take readers through each aspect of the research process including: the major research paradigms reviewing the literature defining the research the research proposal sampling research ethics methods including case studies, surveys, experimental research, ethnography, Delphi study, action research, historical research and grounded theory collection techniques including interviews, questionnaires, observation, diaries, focus groups, usability testing, qualitative and quantitative data analysis software for analysis virtual research presenting the research It is essential reading for students of information and communications studies and archives and records management, and will be an invaluable handbook for practitioners beginning a piece of research."
