Consumption of fried foods, high in saturated fat is known to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease which is long and expensive treatment. This study aims to analyze the determinants of fried food consumption in Indonesia. This study uses secondary data from the 2019 SUSENAS with a sample that meets the inclusion and exclusion criteria of 883,952 respondents. The model used in econometric analysis is a two-part model. The outcome variable is the probability and quantity of fried food consumption. The results showed that individuals who consumed fried food in Indonesia were predicted to be 84.57 percent with a quantity of 4.12 pieces per week. The determinants related to the consumption of fried food in Indonesia are price, income per capita, age, length of education, employment status, place of residence, access to information and access to food. The gender variable did not show a relationship with the probability of consumption but only related to the quantity of consumption in those who consumed fried food. The most dominant variable related to the consumption of fried food in Indonesia is price. A one percent increase in the price of fried food will reduce the probability of people consuming fried food by 0,21 percent and 0.74 pieces per day for those who eat it. Fried foods are classified as goods that are inelastic to price changes. The variables of age, length of education, and employment status have very small relationship strength."

This study aims to explore how ‘healthy eating’ is perceived in everyday life in the context of transformation in authority, expertise, and knowledge around health, as well as discourses of healthism. The researcher observes that prior studies have not offered a more in-depth investigation of how neoliberal and healthist logic informs healthy eating practices, particularly in the midst of the digital era, which is thought to have transformed people's access to various information and recommendations. This study argues that healthy eating practices in the digital era are perceived in a variety of ways and are susceptible to change due to shifts in authorities around health that impact health decision-making and individual involvement in engaging in healthy eating in everyday life. Individual meanings and motives behind healthy eating are all based on a loose interpretation of facts, according to the research findings, so that every action in healthy eating practices has aspects of trust and uncertainty. Individuals who want to protect healthy eating also encounter many challenges, such as powerful temptations of and the strong desires for unhealthy foods; the need to navigate the varied information of healthy eating; the number of costs, resources, and sacrifices involved in healthy eating; as well as the myth of the ‘special person’ in healthy eating. A qualitative approach was used in this study, allowing for a more in-depth exploration of individual meanings associated with healthy eating in the Indonesian context. Qualitative methods are also expected to help identify some of the sociocultural strains that could impede individuals from engaging in healthy eating."
