"This research aims to express the changing process that happened in Mandar as a result of Dutch colonial intervention. From this, it can be seen the early structure that made by Mandar people, their custom and behavior; and finally to bring a new structure that come from their interaction with colonial power. From the period as temporal term, source of information is explored from a past data, especially from colonial archives. Some articles from journals and newspapers, as a contemporary mass media, contribute much information for reconstruction. The structure that made by Mandar people in 18th and 19th century was identified with a maritime piracy. By a reason to end this criminality, Dutch colonial government took a drastic measure with sending her military expedition to punish Mandar people. The expedition motivated the Mandar War in 1868-1869, and ended with a political contract between Mandar and Dutch in 1870. As a conclusion, Mandar is proven to have a difference structure with other political units in South Sulawesi. The structure is consisted of two: power system that composed by seven kings or “maradia”; and diaspora system that spread as long coast of Sulawesi. The contract, that forced by Dutch, could not end the both structures, even though the Dutch regarded that she could establish her political domination."

"ABSTRAKPenelitian mengenai perilaku informasi perempuan peneliti bidang ilmu-ilmu sosial: pola, hambatan dan kemudahannya dilakukan selama dua bulan, yaitu bulan Maret dan April 1997. Tujuannya adalah untuk mendapatkan informasi dan pemahaman tentang pola perilaku informasi perempuan peneliti bidang ilmu-ilmu sosial serta hambatan dan kemudahan yang mereka temui sehubungan dengan keberadaan mereka sebagai perempuan menikah atau tidak menikah dalam konteks sosial-budaya masyarakat.,br>Metode penelitian adalah kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan eksploratif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode wawancara mendalam terhadap enam orang perempuan peneliti dari Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia, Pusat Penelitian Atma Jaya dan Pusat Studi Kajian Wanita Salemba; tiga orang menikah dan tiga orang tidak menikah. Pemilihan sampel, profil responden, pelaksanaan wawancara dan teknik analisa data dijelaskan.Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah pola perilaku informasi perempuan peneliti bidang ilmu-ilmu sosial, menikah dan tidak menikah, terbentuk sejak dari awal proses penelitian. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi dan membentuk pola tersebut adalah kebutuhan informasi peneliti, sumber dan saluran informasi yang digunakan peneliti serta hambatan yang dihadapi peneliti. Ketiga faktor tersebut saling mempengaruhi satu sama lain. Sumber informasi yang digunakan oleh perempuan peneliti bidang ilmu sosial adalah perpustakaan, lembaga, pakar, rekan peneliti dan informan, internet dan e-mail, seminar dan diskusi ilmiah, katalog, brosur dan jurnal. Hambatan yang dialami oleh perempuan peneliti untuk perencanaan penelitian adalah waktu, layanan informasi yang belum memadai dan keluarga. Sedangkan hambatan kegiatan pencarian dan pengumpulan data penelitian adalah waktu, keluarga, komunikasi, topik penelitian dan prasangka masyarakat. Kemudahan yang dialami perempuan peneliti bidang ilmu-ilmu sosial adalah kemudahan dalam melakukan pendekatan, topik penelitian dan sifat pekerjaan penelitian."
