A pharmacist is a profession who provides patient-oriented clinical pharmacy services, aiming to improve the results of drug therapy and reduce the risk of side effects. In practice, pharmacists as decision-makers in the 10-star pharmacist concept, are expected to make good decisions, which can be achieved through an evidence-based medicine (EBM) approach. The use of reliable evidence is essential in making therapeutic decisions for patients. For example, with the increasing prevalence of cardiovascular disease in Indonesia, each patient may have unique conditions that require individualized treatment. Decisions regarding drug use always consider safety and efficacy to enhance the patient's quality of life with minimal risk. In this report, a journal about the effects of cardiovascular drugs by Ma et al., (2021) is critically appraised based on EBM, and a journal by Adesuyan et al., (2022) is summarized. Critical appraisal of journal on the effects of cardiovascular drugs referring to appraisal tools by the Critical Appraisal Skills Program (CASP). The results of a critical appraisal of the journal by Ma et al., (2021) confirm the reliability of the study data, but further investigation is needed to ensure the safety of using 4-5 combination drugs to treat ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attacks in Indonesian population. The systematic review journal summary from Adesuyan et al., (2022) shows that angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) antihypertensive drugs can significantly reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease, with high sensitivity and heterogeneity analysis as confirmation."

"This book investigates the ways in which the evidence base is influencing complementary and alternative medicine in general and Ayurveda and allied health practices in particular. The latter have traditionally been prevalent in Asia and are now increasingly attracting interest worldwide. The book is divided into four sections, the first of which examines issues related to acquisition and evaluation of the evidence base. Evidence-based approaches to Ayurvedic diagnosis and therapy are then examined, with a special focus on management of cardiovascular and rheumatological diseases, dental care, and rejuvenating treatments. The final section explores further the challenges of applying evidence-based practice in contemporary and alternative medicine and Ayurveda with a focus upon the issues requiring urgent attention in ongoing decade. The same involves encompassing areas such as Ayurvedic pharmaceutics, practice, education and research within an evidence-based perspective."

"In the past decade, the relationship between patient choice and clinical decision making has been seen as increasingly significant by healthcare systems around the globe. This 3rd edition of Shared Decision Making in Health Care addresses important developments in this area, including the placing of shared decision making (SDM) at the centre of the US 2009 Affordable Care Act by Obamacare. This resource examines what makes an effective decision-making process from both theoretical and practical viewpoints, and the benefits and obstacles arising in shared patient-clinician decision making. It begins by putting shared decision making in a real-world context, examining its role in customized rather than commercialized healthcare, and in the achievement of allocative efficiency in health systems. It then provides theoretical and practical information for clinicians on the inclusion of patients in decision making and teaching SDM. Research is presented using systematic reviews and case studies to provide an understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of preparing for, developing, and implementing SDM. The resource then relates SDM to broader issues such as health inequalities and quality improvement, and ends by examining ways in which SDM can be promoted by different population groups."

"This edition teaches you an evidence-based, step-by-step process for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients based on their clinical complaints. By applying this process you will be able to recognize specific diseases and prescribe the most effective therapy. Each chapter addresses a common patient complaint and begins with a case & guidance on how to organize the differential diagnosis. As the case progresses, clinical reasoning is explained in detail to either confirm or refute a diagnosis. Filled with algorithms, summary tables, and questions that direct evaluation, this new edition is enhanced by the edition of 5 new chapters, all incorporating the latest research resulting in new & refined approaches to common symptoms encountered in clinical medicine."

"Evidence-based Clinical Practice (EBCP) is the conscientious, explicit, and judicious use of current best external evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients. In neurology, practice has shifted from a rich, descriptive discipline to one of increasingly diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Providing a comprehensive review of the current best evidence, Neurology : an evidence-based approach presents this type of evidence in a concise, user-friendly and easily accessible manner. The three co-editors of this important volume are linked in their passion for evidence-based clinical practice in the clinical neurological sciences, connected to a common historical origin at the University of Western Ontario (UWO), London, Ontario Canada and influenced directly by evidence-based medicine teachings of McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario Cananda. The book is organized in three sections: Basics of Evidence-Based Clinical Practice, with an introduction to the topic, a chapter on the evolution of the hierarchy of evidence, and another chapter on guidelines for rating the quality of evidence and grading the strength of recommendation. The second section, Neurological Diseases, provides an illuminating overview of evidence-based care in ten of the most common areas in neurologic practice. The final, third section provides an outstanding roadmap for teaching evidence-based neurology with a chapter on the evidence-based curriculum. "
