"Ambilan oksigen maksimal (V02max) merupakan standar pengukuran kebugaran aerobik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (a) mengetahui korelasi antara nilai V02max basil uji berjalan satu mil dengan nilai V02max hasil uji dengan alat treadmill pada orang lanjut usia yang sehat di Indonesia, dan (b) mengetahui korelasi antara nilai V02max hasil uji berjalan lima menit dengan nilai V02max basil uji dengan alat treadmill pada orang lanjut usia yang sehat di Indonesia. Subyek penelitian sebanyak 25 terdiri dari laki-laki dan perempuan berusia - 60 tahun dan - 85 tahun. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan adanya korelasi positifyang bermakna antara nilai V02max basil uji berjalan satu mil dengan nilai V02max hasil uji dengan memakai alat treadmill (r = 0,853) (p < 0,05). Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa pengukuran V02max dengan uji berjalan satu mil dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif pengukuran V02max tidak langsung di lapangan bagi orang lanjut usia yang sehat di KJS Senayan dan KJS Hang Tuah Jakarta. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan korelasi positif antara nilai V02max hasil uji berjalan lima menit dengan nilai V02max hasil uji dengan alat treadmill (r = 0,727)."

"Penelitian mengenai produksi suara dalam bidang ilmu kedokteran fisik dan rehabilitasi masih jarang hingga saat ini. Waktu fonasi maksimal (WFM) merupakan salah satu parameter untuk menilai ketahanan fonasi. Studi pendahuluan ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui korelasi nilai prediksi ambilan oksigen maksimal (VO2 maksimal) yang didapatkan dari uji jalan enam menit dengan WFM pada populasi dewasa sehat sedenter bukan penyanyi. Penelitian ini merupakan studi potong-lintang dengan teknik pengambilan sampel secara konsekutif. Kriteria inklusi di antaranya subjek berusia 18-50 tahun, sedenter dan bukan penyanyi. Subjek dengan riwayat merokok, memiliki gejala pernafasan dalam dua minggu terakhir, riwayat penyakit jantung, paru, muskuloskeletal dan gangguan keseimbangan dieksklusi dari studi ini. Pengukuran WFM dan uji jalan enam menit dilakukan oleh dua asesor berbeda dan tidak diketahui satu sama lain. Seluruh subjek pada studi ini (n=50) merupakan penduduk ras Mongoloid. Rerata WFM lebih tinggi pada subjek laki-laki (n=18) (27.4+7.4 s vs 20.6+5.1 s, p<0.001). Dari analisis bivariat, didapatkan korelasi antara WFM dan nilai prediksi VO2 maksimal (r=0.588, p<0.001) dan frekuensi suara (r=-0.360, p=0.010), namun setelah analisis multivariat, nilai prediksi VO2 maksimal merupakan satu-satunya faktor yang berhubungan dengan WFM (p=0.004). Terdapat korelasi sedang antara nilai prediksi ambilan oksigen maksimal dari uji jalan enam menit dengan waktu fonasi maksimal pada dewasa sehat sedenter bukan penyanyi.

Studies regarding voice production in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation are still sparse to date. Maximum phonation time (MPT) is a parameter to measure phonation endurance. This preliminary study was aimed to determine the correlation of predicted maximal oxygen uptake (VO2 max) obtained from six-minute walk test (6MWT) with MPT in healthy adult population of sedentary non-singers. This is a cross-sectional study with consecutive sampling. The inclusion criteria are subjects aged 18-50 years, sedentary and non-singers. Subjects with a history of smoking, having respiratory symptoms in the last two weeks, heart, lung, musculoskeletal and balance problems were excluded from this study. The measurements of MPT and 6MWT were carried out by two different assessors blinded to each other. The subjects in this study (n=50) were all Mongoloids. The mean MPT was higher in male subjects (n=18) (27.4+7.4 s vs 20.6+5.1 s, p<0.001). From bivariate analysis, there was a correlation between MPT and predicted VO2 max (r=0.588, p<0.001), as well as vocal frequency (r=-0.360, p=0.010). However, after multivariate analysis, predicted VO2 max was the only factor associated with MPT (p=0.004). There is a moderate correlation between predicted VO2 max obtained from 6MWT and MPT in healthy adult population of sedentary non-singers.

"ABSTRAK
Latar belakang: Pengukuran kebugaran kardiorespirasi individu dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji latih. Uji naik turun bangku enam menit UNTB6M adalah uji latih yang mudah dilakukan, tidak membutuhkan peralatan yang rumit dan tidak membutuhkan ruang yang besar. Tujuan penelitian adalah melihat korelasi antara UNTB6M dengan UJ6M metode Nury yang telah divalidasi pada orang Indonesia. Metode: Desain observasional potong lintang. Subjek melakukan kedua uji latih. Variabel yang dinilai adalah jarak tempuh UJ6M dan jumlah langkah UNTB6M. Parameter fisiologis yaitu denyut nadi dan skala Borg Usaha, Sesak, Kaki Lelah dinilai sebelum dan sesudah kedua uji dilakukan. Hasil: Subjek penelitian adalah 36 orang laki-laki 42,4 dan 49 orang perempuan 57,6 , dengan rerata usia 29,1 5,53 tahun. Rerata jarak tempuh UJ6M 517 55,1 meter dan jumlah langkah UNTB6M 164,3 22,1 langkah. Jarak tempuh UJ6M berkorelasi dengan jumlah langkah UJNTB6M r = 0,526; p < 0,001 . Pada usia 18 ndash; 25 tahun dan usia 26 -35 tahun, korelasi jarak tempuh UJ6M dan jumlah langkah UJNTB6M adalah r = 0,70 and r = 0,53. Parameter denyut nadi dan skala Borg UNTB6M secara statitik signifikan lebih tinggi dibandingkan UJ6M. Simpulan : Terdapat korelasi kuat pada usia 18 ndash; 25 tahun dan korelasi sedang pada usia 26 ndash; 35 tahun antara jarak tempuh UJ6M metode Nury dan jumlah langkah UJNTB6M

ABSTRACT
Background Assessment of cardiorespiratory fitness using the exercise testing. Six minute step test 6MST is one of exercise testing that is easy to do, does not require complex equipment and large space. The purpose of study is to determine the correlation between 6MST and Nury rsquo s method 6MWT that has been validated on Indonesian people. Methods A cross sectional observational. Each subject did both of exercise testing. Variables assessed were distance on 6MWT and number of steps on 6MST. Physiological parameters such as heart rate and Borg scale Effort, Dyspnea, Leg Fatigue were assessed before and after the test. "ABSTRAK
LATAR BELAKANG. Kecepatan berjalan jarak pendek merupakan pengukuran yang reliabel untuk menilai risiko jatuh dirumah sakit pada pasien usia lanjut. Dengan adanya penurunan kecepatan berjalan pada usia lanjut yang dipengaruhi oleh berbagai risiko jatuh dan besarnya masalah yang ditimbulkan oleh jatuh maka, perlu dilakukan penelitian. Saat ini belum ada penelitian yang menghubungkan korelasi antara kecepatan berjalan dengan besarnya risiko jatuh pada usia lanjut di Indonesia.
METODE. Penelitian deskriptif analitik dengan periode sewaktu. Pada pasien usia lanjut dengan risiko jatuh ringan dan sedang secara consecutive sampling. Penilaian risiko jatuh dengan Berg Balance scale, kemudian dilakukan pemeriksaan kecepatan berjalan 10 meter. Penilaian korelasi Berg Balance scale dengan kecepatan berjalan. Menentukan hubungan antara kategori kecepatan berjalan dengan kategori risiko jatuh dilakukan uji Chi Square sehingga dapat menghitung Crude Odds Ratio dan adjusted Odds Ratio.
HASIL. Terdapat korelasi positif sedang yang bermakna secara statistik antara nilai Berg Balance Scale dengan kecepatan berjalan (r=0,492, p<0,001). Terdapat perubahan Odds Ratio ≥ 10 % untuk variabel usia (11,6 %), jenis kelamin (18,48%) dan status gizi (10,16%) menunjukkan semua variabel merupakan variabel perancu untuk variabel kecepatan berjalan.
KESIMPULAN. Terdapatnya korelasi sedang antara Berg Balance Scale dengan kecepatan berjalan pada usia lanjut. Terdapat hubungan antara kecepatan berjalan dengan risiko jatuh pada usia lanjut.

ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND. One in three elderly falls each year and cause many complication. The most common etiology of falls in elderly is balance disorder that will reduce their walking speed. Short walking distance is a reliable measurement for assessing the risk of falls in hospital for elderly patients. This study is purposed to assess the correlation between the walking speed and the magnitude of the risk of falls in elderly people.
METHOD. Descriptive analytic research with cross-sectional method and consecutive sampling in mild and moderate risk of fall elderly patients. Risk of falls was assessed using Berg Balance Scale and walking speed using 10 meters distance walking test. Spearman correlation analysis test between Berg Balance Scale compare and walking speed. Chi Square Test to determine the correlation between confounding variable with walking speed category and category risk of falls.
RESULTS. There is a statistically significant positive moderate correlation between the Berg Balance Scale and walking speed (r = 0.492, p <0.001). There is a change of more than 10% of the odds ratio for the age (11.6%), sex (18.48%) and nutritional status (10.16%) which showed that all the variables are the confounding variable for walking speed.
CONCLUSION. The presence of moderate correlation between the Berg Balance Scale and walking speed in the elderly. There is a relationship between walking speed and the risk of falls in the elderly."

Tujuan : Mengetahui efektivitas terapi latihan berjalan pada pasien Lupus Eritematosus Sistemik (LES) terhadap nilai skala borg dan jarak tempuh uji jalan enam menit
Metode: Disain penelitian ini adalah studi kuasi eksperimen (pre and post). Nilai skala borg diukur dengan skala numerik 6-20 untuk skala borg kelelahan dan 0-10 untuk skala borg sesak dan kaki lelah. Aktivitas penyakit LES diukur dengan Mex-SLEDAI. Latihan berjalan dilakukan secara bertahap 15, 20, 25, dan 30 menit, tiga kali perminggu selama delapan minggu. Nilai skala borg diukur setelah uji jalan enam menit pertama, setiap akhir minggu latihan, dan setelah uji jalan enam menit kedua. Jarak tempuh uji jalan enam menit dan Mex-SLEDAI diukur pada awal dan akhir penelitian.
Hasil : Dua puluh enam subyek penelitian usia 22 - 57 tahun dianalisa dalam penelitian ini. Rerata nilai jarak tempuh uji jalan enam menit awal adalah 364,35 + 64,45 meter, setelah dilakukan intervensi berjalan terdapat peningkatan rerata menjadi 374,04 + 68,62 meter (p=0,08, CI 95%). Secara statistik dengan uji berpasangan terdapat perbedaan bermakna pada minggu ke-6 dan ke-7 pada skala borg usaha dan kaki lelah, sedangkan pada skala borg sesak pada minggu ke-4 dan ke-5 (p<0,05). Nilai skala Borg uji jalan enam menit pada awal dan akhir latihan secara statistik tidak bermakna (p>0,05). Nilai Mex-SLEDAI awal dan akhir latihan berjalan 84% tidak berubah.
Kesimpulan : Latihan berjalan secara bertahap aman diberikan pada pasien LES tanpa meningkatkan aktivitas penyakit.

ABSTRACT
The aim: To assess the effectiveness of walking exercise therapy in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) patients in borg scale value and six minutes walking test (6MWT) distance.
Methods: The design of the study was quasi-experimental study (pre and post). Borg scale values were measured with 6-20 numerical scale for borg scale exertion and 0-10 for borg scale dyspneu and leg fatigue. SLE disease activity measured by Mex-SLEDAI. Walking exercises were given gradually for 15, 20, 25, and 30 minutes, three times per week for eight weeks. Borg scale values were measured after the first 6MWT, every end of the exercise week, and after the second 6MWT. The 6MWT distance and Mex-SLEDAI were measured at beginning and end of the study.
Results: Twenty-six subjects aged 22-57 were analyzed in this study. The mean value of 6MWT distance was 364.35 + 64.45 meters, after the intervention there was an increase in mean distance value into 374.04 + 68.62 meters (p = 0.08, CI 95%). Paired t test found statistically significant differences for borg scale of effort and leg fatigue at week 6 and 7, also borg scale dyspneu in week 4 and 5 (p <0.05). Borg scale score at 6MWT in the beginning and end of exercise was not statistically significant (p> 0.05). The Mex-SLEDAI values at beginning and end of exercise were 84% amd remain unchanged.
Conclussion: Gradually walking exercise in SLE was safely administered to patients without increasing the disease activity."

Kesesuaian Jarak Tempuh Uji Jalan Enam Menit Lintasan dengan Uji Jalan Enam Menit Jentera pada Dewasa Sehat IndonesiaAbstrakLatar Belakang. Penilaian kapasitas fungsi seseorang sangatlah penting untuk keperluan penentuan program latihan, evaluasi program latihan dan prognosis seseorang. Sebuah uji yang mudah, cepat, dan tidak membutuhkan perlengkapan yang rumit untuk menentukan kapasitas fungsi kebugaran kardiorespirasi terus dikembangkan, tetapi uji jalan enam menit yang menjadi standar saat ini pun terkadang sulit dilakukan karena keterbatasan fasilitas lintasan. Sehingga dibutuhkan adanya uji alternatif lainnya yang menggunakan fasilitas ruang yang lebih memadai dan mampu laksana dalam kondisi apa pun. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menilai kesesuaian jarak Uji jalan 6 menit dengan jentera dibandingkan dengan jarak Uji jalan enam menit lintasan sebagai uji penilaian kebugaran kardiorespirasi.Metode. Disain observasional potong lintang. Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap 46 usia dewasa muda sehat yang didapat secara konsekutif. Jarak tempuh dalam studi ini dilihat tingkat kesesuaiannya dengan menggunakan uji spearman dan uji Bland altmand.Hasil. Jarak tempuh uji jalan enam menit pada jentera memiliki mean 508.8 61, sedangkan lintasan 514.4 47. Berdasarkan Uji t berpasangan didapatkan rerata selisih antara kedua pemeriksaan adalah -5,6 IK 95 -23,6-12,31 dengan hasil nilai p 0,533. Dengan demikian tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara pengukuran jarak tempuh menggunakan jentera dan lintasan. Hasil uji Spearman mendapatkan nilai p 0.002 dan kekuatan korelasi r=0,463.Simpulan. Didapatkan kesesuaian antara jarak tempuh Uji jalan enam menit jentera dengan Uji jalan enam menit lintasan dengan korelasi sedang.ABSTRACT Agreement between Hallway Six Minutes Walk Distance and Treadmill Six Minutes Walk Distance in Healthy Indonesian AdultsAbstractBackground. Assessment of the functional capacity is important to determine the exercise program, evaluation and prognosis of a person. A test that is easy, fast, and does not require complex equipment to determine the capacity of cardiorespiratory fitness function continues to be developed, but the standard six minute test is at times difficult to perform due to the limitation of space or track. So a need for an alternative test with less adequate space is required. The purpose of this study to assess the agreement of the treadmill six minute walk test compared to the hallway six minutes walk test as a cardiorespiratory fitness assessment test.Methods. A cross sectional observational design. This study was conducted on 46 healthy young adults. The agreement between the distances treadmill and hallway is measured using the Spearman and Bland Altmand test.Results. Treadmill six minutes walk distance has a mean of 508.8 61, while the hallway is 514.4 47. Paired t test found a mean difference between both tests 5.6 95 CI 23,6 12,31 with the result p value 0.533. Thus there is no significant difference between the measurement of the distance between treadmill and hallway. From the Spearman 39 s test we found p 0.002 with correlation strength r 0.463.Conclusions. There rsquo s agreement between treadmill six minute walk distance to hallway six minute walk distance with moderate correlation."

"[Latar belakang: Gagal jantung adalah penyebab utama kematian pada thalassemia akibat penumpukan besi dari transfusi darah. Ekokardiografi sering digunakan untuk evaluasi fungsi jantung, namun interpretasi hasilnya sangat bergantung dari operator. Uji berjalan 6 menit adalah metode sederhana yang terbukti mempunyai reliabilitas baik untuk menilai kapasitas fungsional kardiorespirasi sehingga dapat menjadi alternatif penilaian fungsi jantung anak thalassemia.
Tujuan: Mendapatkan uji berjalan 6 menit sebagai metode sederhana untuk mengukur fungsi jantung anak thalassemia.
Metode: Penelitian kasus kontrol pada subjek thalassemia dan kontrol berusia 11-18 tahun yang dipilih secara consecutive sampling. Subjek thalassemia mempunyai rerata feritin serum >2500 ng/mL dalam 6 bulan terakhir. Subjek kontrol dalam kondisi sehat dan tidak pernah menjalani transfusi darah. Uji berjalan 6 menit dilakukan pada kedua subjek, sedangkan ekokardiografi konvensional (EK) dan tissue Doppler (ETD) hanya dilakukan pada subjek thalassemia oleh seorang konsultan kardiologi anak. Data sekunder lain pada subjek thalassemia diambil dari rekam medis yaitu rerata hemoglobin pra-transfusi dalam 1 tahun terakhir, feritin serum dan saturasi transferin dalam 6 bulan terakhir.
Hasil: Sebanyak 40 subjek thalassemia dan 109 kontrol berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Median usia subjek thalassemia 13,4 (11-17,9) tahun dan kontrol 14,2 (11,3-17,9) tahun. Rerata hemoglobin pra-transfusi 7,6±0,6 g/dL. Median feritin serum 4246,5 (2506-10749,7) ng/mL dan saturasi transferin 100 (50-100) %. Setelah dilakukan matching usia dan jenis kelamin, jarak tempuh uji berjalan 6 menit pada subjek thalassemia lebih pendek daripada kontrol (465,1±74,2 vs 671±94,2, p<0,001). Parameter fungsi sistolik dan diastolik jantung dari EK dalam batas normal, tetapi ETD menunjukkan 45% subjek thalassemia mengalami gangguan fungsi diastolik (rasio E/E’ >8). Tidak ada faktor yang berkorelasi dengan jarak tempuh pada subjek thalassemia, sedangkan tinggi badan berkorelasi dengan jarak tempuh pada kontrol berdasarkan analisis bivariat.
Kesimpulan: Jarak tempuh antara subjek thalassemia lebih rendah daripada kontrol. Peran ETD lebih baik daripada EK dalam mengevaluasi fungsi jantung. Uji berjalan 6 menit dapat digunakan sebagai skrining fungsi jantung pada anak thalassemia.;Background: Heart failure is leading cause of mortality in thalassemia due to transfusion-induced iron overload. Evaluation of cardiac function is routinely performed with echocardiography. However, its interpretation depends on operator. The six minute walk test is a simple and reliable method to assess cardiorespiratory performance, therefore, it is suggested to be an alternative in evaluating cardiac function in thalassemia.

Methods: This case control study was performed in thalassemia subjects (cases) and controls aged 11-18 year old which were selected with consecutive sampling. Cases should have mean serum ferritin level >2500 ng/mL in last 6 months. Controls must be in healthy condition and have never had blood transfusion. Both cases and controls performed six minute walk test, while echocardiography (conventional and tissue Doppler) was only done in cases by a pediatric cardiologist. Other secondary data collected from medical records in cases were mean of pre-transfusion hemoglobin in last 1 year, serum ferritin and transferin saturation in last 6 months.
Results: There were 40 cases and 109 controls involved in this study with median age were 13.4 (11-17.9) and 14.2 (11.3-17.9), respectively. The mean of pre-transfusion hemoglobin was 7,6±0,6 g/dL. The median serum ferritin was 4246.5 (2506-10749.7) ng/mL and transferin saturation 100 (50-100) %. After sex and age matching, the six minute walk distance was lower in cases than controls (465.1±74.2 vs 671±94.2, p<0.001). Conventional echocardiography did not find any systolic and diastolic dysfunction in cases. However, tissue Doppler echocardiography found 18 (45%) subjects with E/E’ ratio >8, which were categorized as diastolic dysfunction. There were no factors correlated to six minute walk distance in cases, while body height was correlated to six minute walk distance in controls based on bivariat analysis.
Conclusion: The distance of six minute walk test in thalassemia subjects was shorter than controls. Tissue Dopper echocardiography is better than conventional in order to evaluating cardiac function. The six minute walk test can be used for screening cardiac function in thalassemia.]"

"ABSTRAK
Terapi metformin berpotensi untuk memperbaiki sindrom frailty dengan memodifikasi resistensi insulin, inflamasi, dan konsentrasi miostatin.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran metformin terhadap kekuatan genggam tangan, kecepatan berjalan, konsentrasi miostatin serum, dan kualitas hidup terkait kesehatan pada pasien usia lanjut dengan pre-frail.
Uji klinis acak tersamar ganda dilakukan pada pasien rawat jalan berusia 60 tahun dengan status pre-frail yang direkrut secara konsekutif Maret 2015 ndash;Juni 2016 di RSCM. Pasien dieksklusi bila menyandang diabetes melitus, skor Geriatric Depression Scale ge; 10, skor Abbreviated Mental Test < 8, fase akut penyakit, dan kontraindikasi terhadap metformin. Evaluasi luaran penelitian dilakukan sebelum dan pasca-intervensi selama 16 minggu.
Randomisasi terhadap 120 subjek menempatkan 60 subjek untuk tiap kelompok perlakuan. Sebanyak 43 subjek kelompok metformin 3 x 500 mg dan 48 subjek kelompok plasebo menyelesaikan penelitian. Terdapat peningkatan kecepatan berjalan yang bermakna dengan rerata sebesar 0,39 0,77 detik atau 0,13 0,24 meter/detik pada kelompok metformin dan tetap bermakna setelah dilakukan penyesuaian terhadap faktor prognostik penting yang tidak setara p = 0,024 . Pada analisis ITT ada tidaknya peningkatan kecepatan berjalan > 0,1 meter/detik didapatkan ARR 8,3 IK95 -7,9 ndash;24 , dengan NNT sebesar 12. Tidak terdapat perbedaan bermakna kekuatan genggam tangan, konsentrasi miostatin serum, dan kualitas hidup terkait kesehatan antara kedua kelompok perlakuan. Konsentrasi miostatin serum berkorelasi negatif lemah r = -0,247; p = 0,018 dengan kecepatan berjalan, namun tidak berkorelasi dengan kekuatan genggam tangan. Skor indeks EQ-5D berkorelasi positif sedang dengan kecepatan berjalan r = 0,566; p = 0,000 dan berkorelasi positif lemah dengan kekuatan genggam tangan r = 0,355; p = 0,001.
Sebagai simpulan, pemberian metformin 3 x 500 mg selama 16 minggu secara statistik dan klinis bermakna dalam meningkatkan kecepatan berjalan sebagai salah satu dimensi kualitas hidup terkait kesehatan, namun belum dapat meningkatkan skor indeks EQ-5D, tidak meningkatkan kekuatan genggam tangan, dan belum menurunkan konsentrasi miostatin serum.

ABSTRACT
Metformin is considered to have potential effects to improve frailty syndrome by modifying insulin resistance, inflammation, and myostatin serum level.
This study aimed at investigating the effect of metformin on handgrip strength, gait speed, myostatin serum level, and health related quality of life HR QoL in pre frail elderly.
A double blind randomized controlled trial was conducted on elderly outpatients aged 60 years and older with pre frail status consecutively recruited from March 2015 to June 2016 at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. Patients with history of diabetes mellitus, Geriatric Depression Scale score ge 10, Abbreviated Mental Test score 8, acute phase of diseases, and contraindication s to metformin were excluded. The measurement of study outcomes was conducted at baseline and after 16 weeks of intervention.
One hundred twenty subjects were randomized and equally assigned into metformin 3 x 500 mg or placebo group. There were 43 subjects in metformin group and 48 subjects in placebo group completed the intervention. The mean gait speed in metformin group significantly improved by 0.39 0.77 second or 0.13 0.24 meter second, even after adjusted for importance prognostic factors p 0,024 . Intention to treat analysis on the presence or absence of increased gait speed 0.1 meter second showed ARR 8.3 95 CI 7.9 ndash 24 , with NNT of 12. There were no significant differences on handgrip strength, myostatin serum level, and HR QoL between the two intervention groups. Myostatin serum level had weak negative correlation with gait speed r 0.247 p 0.018 , but did not correlate with handgrip strength. EQ 5D index had moderate positive correlation with gait speed r 0.566 p 0.000 and weak positive correlation with handgrip strength r 0.355 p 0.001.
In conclusion, metformin 3 x 500 mg for 16 weeks significantly improved gait speed as one of the HR QoL dimensions, but not significantly improved the EQ 5D index score and handgrip strength nor decreased myostatin serum level.
