Background: Fixed denture treatment is an invasive treatment since it requires preparation of the supporting teeth. Therefore, a dentist must have a high degree of self-confidence and preparedness to carry out fixed denture care, so that irreversible errors do not occur. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the relationship between preparedness and self-confidence of FKG UI’s clinical dental students in handling fixed denture cases, as well as knowing the distribution and frequency of preparedness and self-confidence of FKG UI’s clinical dental students in handling fixed denture cases. Research Methods: A total of 153 respondents, consisting of first- and second-year students of the FKG UI Professional Study Program participated in the online survey. Respondents completed two questionnaires related to preparedness and self-confidence in handling fixed denture cases used by Ilić et al and Barrero et al in their original language, namely the English language. Distribution of the questionnaire was carried out online in the form of a google form. Research Results: The result of the Continuity Correction test shows a statistically significant relationship between preparedness and self-confidence of FKG UI's clinical dental students (p=0,003, p=0,000, p=0,005). This research also shows that the action with the lowest level of confidence is root canal preparation for casted post where 47.7% of the respondents answered, “moderate confidence”, and the action with the highest level of confidence is taking impressions for fixed prosthetics where 48.4% of the respondents answered “confident”. In addition, this research also shows that the action with the lowest level of preparedness is repairing fractures and removing crowns in which 39.2% of the respondents answered “neutral”. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between preparedness and self-confidence of FKG UI's clinical dental students. FKG UI's clinical dental students have a satisfactory level of readiness and confidence in handling fixed denture cases."

""This book addresses the medical and surgical aspects of treating partially and completely edentulous patients and emphasizes the need to attend to the biologic, psychologic, and social dimensions of illness and care, particularly for those clinicians providing advanced care to patients who require resection and reconstruction or who have oral complications from radiation and chemotherapy. Like the first edition, this book presents a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment that considers the effects on speech, chewing, and swallowing and the social roles that teeth play in a person's life. Since the first edition was published in 1983, the clinical practice of prosthodontics has dramatically changed as patient desires and expectations have shifted away from purely function-related concerns toward an emphasis on esthetics and convenience. Moreover, new technologies and materials have been developed to achieve more predictable and successful outcomes. For example, immediate loading has made implant therapy a more accessible and predictable treatment option; ceramic materials now satisfy the demands for esthetic and functional restorations; and three-dimensional imaging techniques such as computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging aid the clinician in treatment planning and preprosthetic considerations. Completely rewritten and updated, this new second edition highlights all of these emerging developments as it guides prosthodontic residents and practitioners in providing comprehensive and empathic care."--Publisher."
