"The transformational technologies of the Internet-Web compound continue to exert a vast and readily apparent influence on the way we live and work. In recent times, internet penetration is now very high in most parts of the world, impacting the context and content of the workplace and the boundary between work and private life is even more porous. Not only has the reach increased, but the technologies to access the Internet-Web have further evolved towards increasing portability. The hardware evolution from desktops to laptops to mobile technologies (phones, tablets, watches, eyeglasses) marches forward. The increasing mobility and 24/7 accessibility offers the opportune time to revisit the transformations occurring.
Today the Internet consists of billions of digital devices, people, services and other physical objects with the potential to seamlessly connect, interact and exchange information about themselves and their environment. Organizations now use these digital devices and physical objects to produce and consume Internet-based services. This new Internet ecosystem is commonly referred to as the Internet of People, Things and Services (IoPTS). In this follow-up to their 2006 volume, Simmers & Anandarajan examine how The Internet of People, Things and Services (IoPTS) transforms our workplaces.
Information and communications technology (ICT) expansion from desktops to laptops to ubiquitous smart objects that sense and communicate directly over the internet – the IoPTS - offers us the opportune time to revisit how the Internet transforms our workplaces."

Many technologies can support the implementation of IoT running smoothly, one of which is the Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN). Aiming at sending information over long distances and low energy consumption, LPWAN is supported by physical layer technology as a radio modulation platform for the Internet of Things for example like LoRa. Various data received by the sensor node, it requires a scheduling protocol before transmitting to the base station or sink node. In this research, the scheduling model that will be used is First Come First Served on Cluster Head (CH-FCFS) with a star of stars network topology design. The model is implemented in two networks with 25 sensor nodes and 1 cluster head; 50 sensor nodes and 2 cluster heads. The system testing of this model uses the CupCarbon U-One 4.2 simulator. The results of the first and second network analysis have the success of sending data by 100% to the sink node. The 5 year energy consumption for sensor nodes, S100 cluster head, and S200 cluster head are 22,732.2 Joules, 1,121,280 Joules, and 1,121,280 Joules.

Wireless Networks such as Internet of things (IoT) are evolving to help meet the needs of various connected devices. The industry has developed and standardized a new class of Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) technology that helps mobile operators to overcome the unique challenges of IoT characteristics. Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) is one of the LPWA-based connectivity technologies that enables a wide range, connects devices with very large quantities, low costs, and allows long battery life. NB-IoT has been standardized by 3GPP Release 13. Smart metering is an application that has the potential to use NB-IoT technology for energy management which is expected to be implemented on a large scale soon.
PT. Telkomsel as the leading operator in Indonesia uses NB-IoT in stand-alone mode on the 900 MHz frequency band. IoT network planning needs to be done in the early stages of development to maximize IoT value, so that it can see the feasibility of building an NB-IoT network. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of developing an NB-IoT network at PT. Telkomsel in the Jakarta area by comparing Atoll software simulations related to coverage, capacity, and sensitivity analysis on three scenario options (standalone mode, inband mode, and guardband mode). With the selection of the right alternative, it is expected to be able to minimize business risks due to over investment both for alternative expansion and upgrading of existing networks.
