Besarnya nilai akselerasi sebuah kendaraan yang dihasilkan, dapat dihitung lewat besar gaya traksi yang keluar dari ban ke lintasan. Ukuran roda dan gardan di dalam sistem penggerak kendaraan dapat mempengaruhi nilai gaya traksi tersebut. Semakin kecil ukuran roda dan roda gigi gardan yang digunakan, maka gaya traksi yang dihasilkan bertambah akan tetapi kecepatan maksimal kendaraan akan berkurang. Sebaliknya, dengan memperbesar ukuran roda dan gardan akan menurunkan gaya traksi namun menambah kecepatan maksimal kendaraan. Oleh sebab itu, lewat penelitian ini dicari ukuran roda dan roda gigi gardan yang optimal. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan mengumpulkan data sekunder dan data primer. Data sekunder meliputi torsi mesin, rasio gigi kotak transimi, rasio gigi gardan, regulasi kompetisi FSAE, dan lintasan perlombaan. sedangkan, data primer didapatkan lewat simulasi program perangkat lunak OptimumLap. Dari hasil penelitian ini, didapatkan ukuran roda sebesar 20.6 inci dan ukuran roda gigi garda sebesar 43T sehingga dapat memperoleh waktu 3.79 detik pada simulasi akselerasi kendaraan pada lintasan lurus berjarak 75 meter

"
The Amount of acceleration produce can be measured by traction force acting between the wheels and road. The size of wheels and differential gear are supposedly affecting these traction force. As smaller size of wheels and differential gear used will increase the traction force but decreasing vehicle top speed. vice versa, bigger wheel and differential gear size will reduce traction force but increase vehicle top speed. Therefore, this study should find the optimal wheel and differential gear size. The method used in this study is by collecting secondary and primary data. Secondary data which consist of engine torque, ratio of gear in gearbox, final drive ratio, FSAE regulation, and circuit used in competition. While primary data acquired using software simulation program OptimumLap. From this study, obtained the size of wheels 20.6 inch anddifferential gear 43T to achieve 3.79 seconds from vehicle acceleration simulation in 75 meters straight circuit."

"This volume gives an overview on recent developments for various applications of modern engineering design. Different engineering disciplines such as mechanical, materials, computer and process engineering provide the foundation for the design and development of improved structures, materials and processes.
