Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) is a method that is currently being developed until now. This method is a production process used for 3D print or to repair metal parts, which makes the WAAM method very potential and innovative. This thesis presents a preliminary study of the WAAM method using automatic Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, involving stainless steel 316 with aluminium fillers ER5356 and ER1100, which aims to find the best welding results with a clean surface and minimal defects, using both AC and DC polarity, weld current at 60 A – 170 A. The welding speed is constant at 3.125 cm/s and Argon is used as a shielding gas with a constant flowrate of 11 L/min. The results obtained show that welding using ER5356 filler is optimal only using DC polarity at 160A. While the ER1100 filler is optimal in the current range of 125A – 130A using DC polarity and 75A using AC polarity. It is recommended to use DC polarity for both fillers because the bead results are more consistent. This WAAM study is still in its early stages, so more development is needed to get perfect results."

Indonesia is one of many developing countries that are trying to attract in-ward foreign direct investment with the expectation that it will also brought positive externalities. One of these externalities is the more advanced for-eign technology which if spilled to the domestic firms can increase their productivity. There are mixed results in the previous studies on this subject. But if we take the general consensus, the results between each countries de-pends of the characteristics of the country. This research tries to examine the impact of the foreign technology transfer through the channel of FDI in Indonesian manufacturing sector. It will con-duct by measuring the various types of spillover effect within these firms. The method is constructed by using the firm level cross sectional data of Indonesian manufacturing firms in two different period (2006 and 2010) that is collected from Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics. We use total factor productivity of a firm in measuring the spillover effects on the productivity level. We find suggestive evidence that an increase in FDI at the 4-digit and 2-digit industry level raises the rate of productivity of domestic firms in the same industry. Then we find that the presence of foreign firms in provincial level in Indonesia is proved to have positive impacts on the domestic firm productivity in the same province. We also find that spillovers through backward and forward linkages between industries at the two-digit level have similar effects on the productivity of domestic firms which also in-crease the domestic firms productivity level. Thus, this reseach can address the quality of inward FDI to Indonesian man-ufacturing firms. Whether it fulfills the target of quality FDI that assigned by Indonesian Coordinating Board for Investment or not."

Additive manufacturing has, through its development and proliferation, allowed for greater degrees of freedom when it comes to the design of components and ease at which to test said designs. A common element used in designing for additive manufacturing is turning a solid geometry into one that is hollow with an internal lattice structure to maintain stiffness and strength. This study aims to develop a method of optimizing the lattice structure of a component under load, aiming to minimize both volume of material used as well as stress experienced by the component. FEA is used to determine the relative density of the lattice at a given area, adding material to areas of high stress and removing it in areas of low stress. This framework is tested on a beam that is experiencing a bending load. A comparison is then made to a lattice structure of uniform shape."
