"Akta notaris adalah dokumen hukum yang sering diterjemahkan oleh penerjemah tersumpah ke dalam bahasa Inggris. Proses penerjemahan akta notaris harus dilakukan dengan memerhatikan berbagai perbedaan linguistik, budaya, dan sistem hukum antara teks sumber (TSu) dan teks sasaran (TSa) agar pesan TSu dapat disampaikan dengan baik dalam TSa. Penelitian ini membahas tentang prosedur penerjemahan dan tema serta rema akta pernyataan keputusan rapat dan perubahan anggaran dasar yang diterjemahkan oleh penerjemah tersumpah. Akta ini dipilih sebagai sumber data analisis karena mengandung berbagai klausa kompleks dan istilah hukum serta bisnis yang cukup menantang ketika diterjemahkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan berorientasi pada produk. Analisis dilakukan dengan teori prosedur penerjemahan dan teori linguistik sistemik fungsional yang berfokus pada pembahasan tema dan rema. Analisis menunjukkan adanya 10 prosedur penerjemahan yang diterapkan oleh penerjemah yaitu transposisi, penambahan, penghapusan, modulasi cakupan makna, modulasi sudut pandang, kalke, eksplisitasi, padanan lazim, padanan kultural dan parafrase. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa terdapat 67 satuan analisis yang tidak mengalami pergeseran tema dan rema, 6 satuan analisis yang mengalami pergeseran tema, dan 6 satuan analisis yang mengalami pergeseran tema dan rema.

Notarial deed is a legal document which is often translated by a sworn translator from Indonesian into English. The translation of a notarial deed must consider the linguistic, cultural, and legal system differences between the source text (ST) and the target text (TT) so that the message in ST can be conveyed properly in TT. The aim of this study was to analyze the themes and rhymes and translation procedures in a deed of statement of resolutions of meeting and amendment to articles of association. This deed was chosen as the data to be analyzed because it contained complex clauses, legal terms, and business terms which are challenging to be translated. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative and focuses on product-oriented translation. The analysis was carried out using the theory of translation procedures and the theory of functional systemic linguistics on themes and rhemes. Based on the analysis, it is found that there are 10 translation procedures, namely transposition, addition, deletion, meaning modulation, point of view modulation, calque, explicitation, cultural equivalence, recognized translation, and paraphrase. This study also found that the themes and rhemes in 67 data are not changed, the themes in 6 data are changed, and the themes and rhemes in 6 data are changed."

"ABSTRAKDisertasi ini menyingkap strategi, ideologi, metode, dan teknik penerjemahan ungkapan sapaan bahasa Inggris-Amerika dan ungkapan sapaan bahasa Indonesia serta budaya kebahasaan yang terlibat di dalam penerjemahan. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan tiga novel Amerika beserta terjemahan bahasa Indonesianya dan wawancara dengan penerjemah serta narasumber lain. Didukung oleh teori penerjemahan, ungkapan sapaan, dan budaya kebahasaan, penelitian ini menemukan dua ideologi penerjemahan yang berhulu pada strategi penerjemahan pemancaan (foreignization) dan pelokalan (domestication). Di samping itu, juga ditemukan tujuh metode penerjemahan dan dua puluh empat teknik penerjemahan serta budaya kebahasaan yang menyangkut kuasa (power) dan solidaritas (solidarity).

ABSTRACTThis dissertation reveals the translation strategies, ideologies of translation, translation methods, and translation techniques of American-English forms of address into their Indonesian translations within linguistic culture involved in the translation. This qualitative research employs three American novels with their translation versions and interviews with their translators and other resource persons. Through the theories of translation, forms of address theories, and linguistic culture, the research findings indicate that two ideologies of translation: foreignization and domestication. Besides, it is also found that there are seven methods of translation with twenty four techniques of translation and linguistic culture relating to power and solidarity."

"Penelitian ini membahas penerjemahan preposisi pemarkah lokatif dan adverbia lokatif bahasa Prancis ke dalam bahasa Indonesia dengan menganalisis padanannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa preposisi pemarkah lokatif bahasa Prancis dapat diberi padanan berupa preposisi pula dalam bahasa Indonesia, sedangkan adverbia lokatif bahasa Prancis tidak pernah berpadanan adverbia lokatif bahasa Indonesia, sebab bahasa Indonesia tidak mengenal adverbia lokatif. Oleh karena itu, kesejajaran bentuk dapat diterapkan dalam penerjemahan preposisi pemarkah lokatif, sebaliknya penerjemahan adverbia lokatif tidak terikat pada kesejajaran bentuk dan lebih mementingkan kesepadanan tekstual. Hasil analisis juga menunjukkan pergeseran dalam penerjemahan, baik pergeseran tataran maupun pergeseran kategori. Meskipun demikian, amanat yang terdapat dalam bahasa sumber tetap dapat tersampaikan dalam bahasa sasaran.

This research explains the translation of locative prepositions and locative adverbs in French language to Indonesian language by analyzing their Indonesian equivalents. It shows that there are Indonesian equivalents for French locative prepositions that work as prepositions as well, whereas Indonesian equivalents for French locative adverbs can never be determined as adverbs because there is no locative adverb in Indonesian language. Therefore, formal correspondence can be applied in the translation of locative prepositions. On the other hand, the translation of locative adverbs ignores formal correspondence but emphasizes textual equivalence. The result of the analysis shows translation shifts, both level shifts and category shifts. Nevertheless, the message in the source language still can be transferred in the target language."

"Karena nilai budayanya, metafora disetujui sebagai salah satu masalah penerjemahan, terutama dalam penerjemahan sastra. Dengan demikian, makalah ini menggabungkan teori prosedur penerjemahan yang dikemukakan oleh Peter Newmark (1988) dan Gideon Toury's (1995) serta teori foreingnisasi dan domestikasi yang dikemukakan oleh Venuti (1995). Makalah ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana prosedur penerjemahan metafora, serta strategi penerjemahan foreignisasi dan domestikasi, diterapkan dalam dua terjemahan bahasa Indonesia dari novel berjudul Frankenstein yang ditulis oleh Mary Shelley. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua hasil terjemahan yang berbeda untuk mengumpulkan data. Terjemahan pertama (TT1) diterbitkan oleh Gramedia Publisher, dan terjemahan kedua (TT2) diterbitkan oleh Qanita Publisher. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari tujuh prosedur yang digunakan, hanya satu yang tidak diterapkan. Penelitian ini juga mengungkapkan bahwa kedua terjemahan tersebut menggunakan strategi foreignisasi dan domestikasi. Namun, TT1 condong ke arah foreignisasi dan TT2 cenderung lebih menggunakan strategi domestikasi.

Thus, this paper combines theories of translation procedures proposed by Peter Newmark (1988) and Gideon Toury’s (1995) and foreignization and domestication theories proposed by Venuti (1995). "[ABSTRAKTesis ini menyuguhkan terjemahan beranotasi novel The Kaisho. Anotasi dilakukan untuk menjelaskan masalah penerjemahan istilah budaya dan penyelesaiannya. Keunikan novel dari segi budaya dan keinginan untuk memperkenalkan budaya latar TSu menjadi dasar penerjemahan yang menganut ideologi pengasingan, tanpa mengabaikan ideologi pelokalan. Ideologi pelokalan hanya digunakan pada bagian-bagian tertentu untuk mencapai pemahaman pembaca TSa. Metode penerjemahan yang digunakan adalah metode semantis-komunikatif dengan penggunaan berbagai teknik yang mendukung kesepadanan makna dan kewajaran bentuk. Penerjemahan yang melibatkan teks sumber (TSu) yang menghadirkan sejumlah budaya kuat memerlukan upaya dari penerjemah agar tidak terjadi ?penjajahan budaya?. Keterlibatan teks sumber yang menghadirkan sejumlah budaya kuat di dalam penerjemahan ini memerlukan upaya penerjemah untuk menghindari ?penjajahan budaya?. Dalam situasi ini, penerjemah perlu mencondongkan pada lima aspek, (1) pemahaman karakteristik TSu; (2) pemahaman tentang calon pembaca TSa; (3) pemahaman budaya-budaya di dalam TSu dan budaya sasaran; (4) pemahaman makna dalam penyampaian pesan; dan (5) pemahaman bahwa ada perbedaan cara pengungkapan suatu ide pada dua budaya yang berlainan.

ABSTRACTThis thesis presents an annotated translation of the novel The Kaisho. Annotation is performed to explain the problem and its solution translation of the cultural terms. The uniqueness of the novel in terms of culture and the desire to introduce the cultural background of the source text become a basic of translation that adheres to the ideology of foreignization, without ignoring the localization of ideology. The localization only used on certain parts to achieve the target text reader comprehension. Translation method used is semantic-communicative methods with the use of various techniques that support the equivalence of meaning and reasonableness shape. The involvement of the source text that presents a strong culture in this translation requires some effort of the translator to avoid the ?culturally imperialistic?.In this situstion, translator needs to be leaned on five aspects of understanding, (1) understanding of the characteristics of source text; (2) understanding of the potential reader of the target text; (3) understanding of the cultures in the source text and the target text; (4) understanding of the meaning in the delivery of the message; and (5) an understanding that there are different ways of expressing an idea in two different cultures.;This thesis presents an annotated translation of the novel The Kaisho. "Dalam penelitian ini dianalisis prosedur, teknik, dan metode penerjemahan yang dipakai dalam menerjemahkan lirik lagu Take Me Home, Country Roads dalam lirik lagu adaptasi bahasa Jerman Dieser Weg Führt Nach Haus (Neue Version). Lirik lagu dianalisis menggunakan teori prosedur, teknik, dan metode penerjemahan dari Newmark (1988). Penulis mengelompokkan masing-masing lagu per bait, satu bait berisi empat baris. Dengan begitu baik lirik lagu bahasa sumber maupun bahasa sasaran memiliki empat bait yang dianalisis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dan terbatas pada analisis prosedur, teknik dan metode penerjemahan yang digunakan dalam lirik lagu bahasa sasaran atau unsur lingual saja, kalaupun ada unsur lain seperti kultural atau musikal, hanya dijabarkan sepintas. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, prosedur dan teknik yang dipakai dalam adaptasi lagu ini adalah modulasi bebas dan mempunyai fungsi komunikatif dan fungsi estetik. Metode yang dipakai adalah free translation, adaptation, dan idiomatic translation. Penerjemah dalam adaptasi juga memperhatikan unsur-unsur seperti jumlah suku kata, pemilihan kata, dan rima.

This study analyzes translation procedure, technique, and methods used to translate Take Me Home, Country Roads song lyrics into German adaptation lyrics in Dieser Weg Führt Nach Haus (Neue Version). The lyrics were analyzed using translation procedure, technique, and methods theory by Peter Newmark (1988). The lyrics of two songs are grouped by verse, one verse contains four lines. Therefore both songs will have four verses to analyze. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method and is limited to translation procedure, technique, and methods used or lingual matter, other matters e.g. cultural or musical are briefly discussed. According to the results, translation procedure, technique, and methods used are free modulation, communicative purpose, and aesthetic purpose. Methods used are free translation, adaptation and idiomatic translation. The translator also takes into account elements like syllable count, word choice, and rhyme."

"ABSTRAKThis study is a descriptive-qualitative study with an embedded-case study research design. The purposes of the study are (1) to describe strategies decided to translate comics entitled The Very Best of Donald Duck Comics into Indonesian, 2) to describe the effect of the strategies on the accuracy in content and acceptability of translated text of The Very Best of Donald Duck Comics. The data of the research are English comics entitled The Very Best of Donald Duck Comics and their translation in Indonesian, selected using purposive sampling technique. Two methods of data collection were employed: content analysis used to obtain data from both source and target texts, and questionnaire was used to gather data about the accuracy in content, and acceptability. The accuracy in content and acceptabilty of the translated text were rated by three raters. The results of data analysis show that: (1) there are five strategies used to translate The Very Best of Donald Duck Comics into Indonesian namely structural adjustment, cultural term borrowing, adaptation, maintenance, and deletion, (2) the chosen strategies contribute positively to the accuracy in content and acceptability of the translated texts. The average score for accuracy in content and acceptability is 1.15. This average score means that the source text has been accurately rendered into the target language; the target is easy to understand as determined by the raters and it needs not restructured."

Data ini diteliti menggunakan prosedur penerjemahan Vinay dan Darbelnet, Molina dan Albir, dan metode V diagram Newmark. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan prosedur dan metode terjemahan yang digunakan penerjemah pada lirik lagu I See the Light ke dalam bahasa Jerman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode utama yang digunakan adalah metode komunikatif dan prosedur yang paling dominan untuk menerjemahkan lagu tersebut adalah modulasi.

Nowadays, music is in great demand. Including songs in a motion picture, which is a soundtrack. A song can be translated into multiple languages such as an English song translated into German. It aims to make it easier for target readers to understand the meaning of a song, because the content of a song is usually a figurative word. If we do not have knowledge of the source language, it will be difficult to understand the meaning. This study discusses the procedure and method used in translating the song I See the Light into German, namely Endlich sehe ich das Licht. This research was a descriptive-qualitative because it analyzes the corpus of data in the form of song lyrics. These data were examined using the translation procedure of Vinay and Darbelnet, Molina and Albir, and Newmark's V-chart method. The purpose of this study is to describe the translation procedures and methods used by the translator of the I See the Light song lyrics into German. The results of this study showed that the main method and procedure used for translate that song are the communicative method and modulation procedure."
