"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan studi kasus peran gender perempuan yang terdapat dalam serial Caliphate. Serial ini menarik untuk dibahas sebab gambaran di dalam film tersebut, diangkat dari kisah nyata sehingga melahirkan pandangan baru terhadap isu perempuan ISIS. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif dengan peran gender perempuan sebagai fokus utama. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berasal dari serial Netflix berbahasa Swedia dengan teks terjemahan bahasa Inggris dan bahasa Indonesia. Dalam menganalisis peran gender perempuan ISIS yang terdapat dalam serial Caliphate, penulis menggunakan teori pendekatan semiotik Roland Barthes dan teori analisis gender. Dalam teori tersebut menyimpulkan bahwa para perempuan ISIS dalam serial Caliphate mengisi berbagai peran, mulai dari sebagai istri, pendukung agenda ISIS hingga bagian dari militan. Dari peran-peran tersebut di temukan beberapa manifestasi ketidakadilan gender yang dialami oleh tokoh-tokoh perempuan di dalam serial.

This study aims to describe case studies of women's gender roles contained in the Caliphateseries. This series is interesting to discuss because the picture in the film is based on a true story that gives birth to a new perspective on the issue of ISIS women. This research was conducted using a qualitative method with the gender role of women as the main focus. The data source used in this study came from the Swedish Netflix series with English and Indonesian subtitles. In analyzing the gender roles of ISIS women in the Caliphate series, the author uses Roland Barthes' semiotic approach and gender analysis theory. This theory concludes that ISIS women in the Caliphate series fill various roles, ranging from being wives, supporters of the ISIS agenda to part of the militants. From these roles, several manifestations of gender inequality experienced by female characters in the series are found."

"Penanggulangan terorisme masih menjadi tantangan global termasuk Indonesia, tahun 2014 Negara Islam Irak dan Suriah (ISIS) mendeklarasikan sebagai Khilafah Islamiyah yang mentriger agresi Warga Negera Indonesia (WNI) baik laki-laki maupun perempuan, Di sisi lain, regulasi terkait penanganan tindak pidana terorisme di Indonesia belum bisa menjawab pola-pola kejahatan baru terorisme tersebut, sehingga hal ini menghambat upaya hukum dalam penanganan WNI eks pro ISIS yang dipulangkan dari Suriah termasuk rombongan keluarga yang melibatkan suami, istri dan anak-anak. Dalam pola terorisme lama, perempuan hanya diberikan peran sebagai support system. Sedangkan, perkembangan terbaru perempuan justru menjadi aktor utama. Tesis ini menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif dengan pendekatan kasus untuk menggambarkan dimensi gender dalam proses penanganan dan pengaruhnya dalam proses hukum penanganan keluarga returnee. Dimensi gender sebagai pendekatan untuk melihat perang, fungsi dan tanggung jawab laki-laki dan perempuan yang terlibat kelompok ekstrem, dalam kasus penanganan returnee persoalan mekanisme penanganan yang tidak jelas serta kekosongan hukum berpengaruh pada subjektivitas penegak hukum yang masih menggunakan logika kemanusiaan dan pandangan yang bias gender dalam menanangan kasus perempuan dan laki-laki eks pro ISIS.

Counter terrorism is still challenges in global area, In 2014, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) was declared Khilafah Islamiyah (Islamic State) which triggered aggression of Indonesian citizens (WNI) decide to move to Suriah. On the other side, regulations relating to combatting terrorist acts in Indonesia have not been able to answer the new patterns of terrorism crime, so this is hampering legal efforts in addressing ex-ISIS Indonesian citizens repatriated from Syria including family groups involving husbands, wives and children. Thus, the handling pattern is different from the previous models of terrorism crimes. In the old pattern of terrorism, women were only given a role in the domestic sphere and ensured the regeneration of their groups. Meanwhile, the latest development of women has become the main actor and recruitment agent for new group members. This thesis uses a descriptive analysis method using a case approach to describe the gender dimension is related to handling and how it influences the views of gender in the legal process of handling family returnees. The gender dimension as an approach to see war, functions and responsibilities of men and women involved in extreme groups, in the case of handling returnees the problem of unclear handling mechanisms and legal vacuum affect the law enforcement subjectivity that still uses humanitarian logic and gender biased views in tackling the case of women and men ex-ISIS. Therefore, in the future law enforcers must use agenda theory in which each individual, both men and women have their respective roles involved in extreme groups"

"Serial Game of Thrones (2011-2019) mengisahkan konflik perebutan tahta atas Westeros. Terdapat banyak tokoh yang terlibat dalam perebutan tahta hingga alur cerita menyisakan tiga perempuan yang berebut kuasa dan pengaruh. Ketiga perempuan itu adalah Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister, dan Sansa Stark. Pergeseran posisi ketiganya dijabarkan melalui struktur naratif yang diperinci oleh sekuen. Melalui skema aktan oleh Greimas diketahui motif dan tujuan mereka berkuasa. Selain itu, intensitas kemunculan tokoh dan latar tempat per musim penayangan serial tersebut juga mengungkap posisi tokoh. Kepemilikan modal menjadi penting untuk menentukan posisi ketiganya. Teori arena oleh Bourdieu mengungkap modal apa saja yang paling menunjang ketiga tokoh perempuan itu untuk meraih dan mempertahankan tahta. Strategi untuk memenangkan tahta tentu membutuhkan modal yang berjumlah besar. Kepemilikan modal menentukan perjalanan mereka untuk mencapai kekuasaan atau justru menghantarkan mereka kepada keruntuhan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepemilikan modal ekonomi, kultural, sosial, dan simbolik berpengaruh pada strategi dan posisi kekuasaan.

The Game of Thrones series (2011-2019) tells of the conflict over the throne of Westeros. There are many characters involved in the struggle for the throne so that the storyline leaves three women who are fighting for power and influence. The three women are Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister, and Sansa Stark. The shifts in the positions of the three are explained through a narrative structure that is detailed by the sequence. Through the actan scheme by Greimas their motives and goals in power are known. In addition, the intensity of character appearance and the setting per season of the series also reveals the characters’ positions. Capital ownership is important to determine their positions. Bourdieu’s theory of arena reveals what capital best supports the three female characters to gain and defend the throne. Their ownership of capital either determines their journey to power or leads them to collapse. The results showed that the ownership of economic, cultural, social, and symbolic capital had an effect on the strategy and position of power."

"Stereotip terhadap ras atau etnis tertentu sering ditemukan di serial televisi sebagai contoh adalah Sense8 2015-2017 di Netflix. Meskipun tampaknya Sense8 ingin menyajikan sebuah acara yang memiliki keragaman dari berbagai macam ras dan etnis, stereotip dapat ditemukan pada salah satu karakter dalam acara tersebut yaitu Kala, seorang wanita Asia Selatan. Representasi Kala sebagai wanita India dalam acara tersebut adalah perjodohannya, sikap submissivenya, dan bagaimana ia harus diselamatkan oleh pria kulit putih. Tulisan ini juga mencoba untuk menganalisis patriarki dari ayah Kala. Dengan menggunakan metode tekstual analisis, tulisan ini berharap dapat mengetahui bagaimana sebuah acara televisi dapat mendukung stereotip untuk menggambarkan karakter-karakter di dalamnya.

Stereotypes of certain race or ethnicity are often found in television series, for example, in Netflix rsquo;s Sense8 2015-2017 . Even though the show intends to present diversity, stereotypes can be found in one of the characters, Kala, a South Asian woman. The representations of Kala as an Indian woman in the show are arranged marriage, her submissiveness, and how she needs to be saved by a white male. This paper will also try to analyze Kala rsquo;s father rsquo;s patriarchy. Using textual analysis, this paper aims to achieve how a television series could reinforce stereotypes to portray their own characters."

"Representasi dan imaji perempuan dalam media hiburan kontemporer, khususnya serial TV sering kali dipengaruhi oleh adanya struktur budaya patriarki yang melekat pada masyarakat dunia. Selain sebagai objek pasif di bawah laki-laki, penggambaran perempuan sebagai korban kekerasan pun sering kali ditayangkan dalam dunia sinema. Serial “Perfume” berbahasa Jerman karya Philipp Kadelbach adalah salah satu yang menampilkan perempuan sebagai korban kekerasan secara eksplisit sekaligus pelakunya. Maka dari itu, citra kekerasan terhadap perempuan yang dipengaruhi adanya male gaze dalam serial ini akan dibahas. Dengan dasar teori representasi oleh Stuart Hall, penelitian ini menjabarkan bagaimana tubuh perempuan dan kekerasan dipertontonkan demi kenikmatan visual. Walaupun secara sekilas tokoh utama perempuan membawa pesan feminis, dominasi male gaze dalam serial TV justru mempromosikan langgengnya struktur patriarki yang mengopresi perempuan. Sadarnya masyarakat akan pengaruh male gaze terhadap representasi perempuan dapat menjadi upaya pemberantasan hierarki dan ketidaksetaraan gender.

Women’s image in the contemporary media, including TV series are often influenced by the patriarchal system that lives in the society. Apart from being depicted as passive (spectacle) to men (spectator), women are often portrayed as victims of violence in the world of cinema. “Perfume”, a german-speaking show directed by Philipp Kadelbach is one of the TV series that portrays women as the perpetrator, as well as the victim of violence explicitly. Accordingly, this study will discuss how violence against women is represented and how the male gaze becomes influential in this show. Based on the representation theory by Stuart Hall, how violence and women's bodies are displayed for the sake of visual pleasure will be discussed. At a glance, it seems like the heroines are bringing feminist values. But it appears that the male gaze in this show is promoting perpetual patriarchal system that puts women under oppression. By recognizing how the male gaze affects representation of women, the society can eventually erase gender hierarchy as well as inequalities.

Jurnal ini membahas serial TV Sherlock Holmes yang ditayangkan di saluran BBC seluruh dunia dengan menyentuh isu gender yaitu peran dan konstruksi gender. Tokoh wanita yang digambarkan berbeda dengan stereotipe gender yang berlaku di masyarakat tradisonal membuat peneliti ingin menggali lebih dalam bagaimana dualisme peran feminin-maskulin bekerja didalam film melalui kedua tokoh wanitanya. Selain itu, jurnal ini juga menjawab bagaimana kedua tokoh wanita diperlakukan ketika tidak mengikuti aturan yang berlaku di masyarakat tradisional. Peneliti menggunakan Item ndash; item yang terdapat dalam Alat Ukur Bem Sex Role Inventory untuk mendukung peneliti dalam melakukan pembahasan. Pada akhirnya serial TV ini membuka kesempatan merekonstruksi definisi dan peran gender wanita yang selama ini telah terinternalisasi di dalam kehidupan masyarakat.

Crime Fiction TV Serial is the one of audiovisual product which is close to the society livehood because the stories were taken from criminals that happened among us. This journal analyzes the Sherlock Holmes TV serial that has been broadcast in BBC Worldwide channel by touching its gender issuses such as roles and gender construction. The different depicting ways of the women characters from those prevailing in the society drives the writer to dig deeper how these feminine masculine dualism role works in this film through both of the women characters. Morevoer, this journal is also answers how both of the women characters were treated when they didn't follow the prevailing rules. Writer use the items in Bem Sex Role Inventory Measurment Instrument to supports writer expose the discussion. In the end this TV serial open the chance to reconstruct the definition of women gender role that has been internalized in our society."
