"Global ethics focuses on the most pressing contemporary ethical issues - poverty, global trade, terrorism, torture, pollution, climate change and the management of scarce recourses. It draws on moral and political philosophy, political and social science, empirical research, and real-world policy and activism. The Routledge Handbook of Global Ethics is an outstanding reference source to the key topics, problems and debates in this exciting subject, presenting an authoritative overview of the most significant issues and ideas in global ethics. The 31 chapters by a team of international contributors are structured into six key parts:
normative theory
conflict and violence
poverty and development
economic justice
bioethics and health justice
environment and climate ethics.
Covering the theoretical and practical aspects of global ethics as well as policy, The Routledge Handbook of Philosophy of Global Ethics provides a benchmark for the study of global ethics to date, as well as outlining future developments. It will prove an invaluable reference for policy-makers, and is essential reading for students and researchers in philosophy, international relations, political science, environmental and development studies and human rights law."

Globalization, as a process that turned health issues into global problems, has triggered the development of global health governance study in International Relations. The multi-sector and multi-actor characteristics of global health governance make health cooperation no longer exclusively owned by World Health Organization (WHO). This paper aims to map the development of academic literature on the role of WHO in the last 2 decades. This paper seeks to understand how the literature explains the role of WHO in dealing with emerging health challenges amidst the changing landscape of global health governance. Using the typology method, this paper identifies two phenomena: first, WHO's role in dealing with global health crises; and second, WHO's position among other global health institutions. Regarding the first phenomenon, the majority of literature focuses on the power and political willingness of member states in complying with WHO’s regulations and recommendations, limited WHO’s authority, and WHO’s funding mechanism as factors which lead to the declining role of WHO since the revision of International Health Regulation (IHR) in 2005. Regarding the second phenomenon, the majority of literature finds that the legitimacy and normative power of WHO are the advantages that make the organization remain relevant as the key and prime actor in global health governance and cooperation. This paper concludes that the dynamic role of WHO in global health governance is a manifestation of its adaptation to global political dynamics. This paper also identifies several findings and gaps in the literature. First, the literature on the role of WHO is dominated by principal-agent and legal approaches. Second, the literature pays great attention to health crisis issues in the form of communicable diseases, but rarely discusses non-communicable diseases and other critical health programmes. Third, the literature written in the last decade focuses on criticisms regarding WHO’s organizational failure. Fourth, the multi-sector and multi-actor aspects of global health governance have not yet been discussed in depth. Fifth, the academic writings discussing the role of WHO in facing COVID-19 are still limited."

"Few countries as culturally rich, politically pivotal, and and naturally beautiful as Indonesia are as often misrepresented in global media and conversation. Stretching 3400 miles east to west along the equator, Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world and home to more than four hundred ethnic groups and several major world religions. This sprawling Southeast Asian nation is also the world's most populous Muslim-majority country and the third largest democracy. Although in recent years the country has experienced serious challenges with regard to religious harmony, its trillion-dollar economy is booming and its press and public sphere are among the most vibrant in Asia. A land of cultural contrasts, contests, and contradictions, this ever-evolving country is today rising to even greater global prominence, even as it redefines the terms of its national, religious, and civic identity. The Routledge Handbook of Contemporary Indonesia offers an overview of the modern making and contemporary dynamics of culture, society, and politics in this powerful Asian nation. It provides a comprehensive survey of key issues in Indonesian politics, economics, religion, and society. It is divided into six sections, organized as follows: Cultural Legacies and Political Junctures, Contemporary Politics and Plurality, Markets and Economic Cultures, Muslims and Religious Plurality, Gender and Sexuality, Indonesia in an Age of Multiple Globalizations. Bringing together original contributions by leading scholars of Indonesia in political science, history, anthropology, sociology, religious studies, and gender studies this handbook provides an up-to-date, interdisciplinary, and academically rigorous exploration of Indonesia"

""The Routledge handbook of Asian regionalism is a definitive introduction to, and analysis of, the development of regionalism in Asia, including coverage of East Asia, Southeast Asia and South Asia. The contributors engage in a comprehensive exploration of what is arguably the most dynamic and important region in the world. Significantly, this volume addresses the multiple manifestations of regionalism in Asia and is consequently organised thematically under the headings of: - conceptualizing the region - economic issues - political issues - strategic issues - regional organizations. As such, the handbook presents some of the key elements of the competing interpretations of this important and highly contested topic, giving the reader a chance to evaluate not just where Asian regionalism is going but also how the scholarship on Asian regionalism is analysing these trends and events."--Publisher's description."

"The influence of the global South is increasing in the conduct and governance of multinationals, in the growing interest in the 'bottom of the pyramid', in the debates over the environment, trade and international law. There are questions aplenty. Complexities and tensions, differing ethical interpretations.
The volume includes works by authors from the global South and contributions about ethical issues in the global South, including the responses to famine in East Africa, India and Indonesia, and the applicability of international guidelines and ethical frameworks in South Africa. Other contributions examine the roles of beliefs and philosophies in the establishment of ethical traditions."

"Summary "With this book nursing and health administration students can increase their understanding of the myriad global ethical issues. The book examines key issues of health services delivery (insurance, rationing of care, allocation of resources, and cost-containment) and the health care industry (corruption, kickbacks, and conflicts of interest) in both developing and developed countries. The book also considers cross-border issues that arise from the movement of patients and providers across national boundaries, such as treatment of undocumented aliens, medical tourism, and the "brain drain" of health care personnel from developing countries"--Provided by publisher.
